after chipping, i go to the range and hit about 5 3/4 3 iron swings to get my hands in the right spot and tempo going. then i hit 5 full 3 iron shots, then go to my pw, 9 iron, etc.

I always start with my best club to get the confidence up (6i). Then I normally go Pw, 4i, 8i, 5i, 9i, 3h, sw, driver, 6i.

I like to start with the 3 iron.....it's my longest iron in the bag and hardest to hit.........if i flush it on the range i can hit any iron on the course...........if i got some extra time i hit the driver about 10 balls then finish with 50% wedges.....hope this helps......try it out next time you might surprise yourself

Putt first, then five or so 7 irons to loosen up. Then 56˚, 7 iron, 5 iron, driver. Then play.

driver: FT-i tlcg 9.5˚ (Matrix Ozik XCONN Stiff)
4 wood: G10 (ProLaunch Red FW stiff)
3 -PW: :Titleist: 695 mb (Rifle flighted 6.0)
wedges:, 52˚, 56˚, 60˚
putter: Studio Select Newport 1.5

It varies a bit, but lately a 6 or 7 iron. Regardless, I like to start with a few 1/2 to 3/4 swings with my feet together, just to get the balance and be sure I can get solid contact this way. Then I take a normal stance and hit 1/2 swings until I hit a couple in a row with solid contact. Then I get on with whatever I'm working on.

In the bag:
FT-iQ 10° driver, FT 21° neutral 3H
T-Zoid Forged 15° 3W, MX-23 4-PW
Harmonized 52° GW, Tom Watson 56° SW, X-Forged Vintage 60° LW
White Hot XG #1 Putter, 33"

Start with PW hitting a few 3/4 swings. Then 6i, 4i and Driver. I finish of with a a couple of swings with the club I am going to tee off with. After that I check the speed on the putting green and a few chips if I have time.

What I Play:
Ping Rapture V1 9° stock UST stiff | Taylormade V-steel, 15° and 18°, UST Proforce V2 stiff | Mizuno MP-57 3-PW Project X 5.5 | Titleist Vokey Spin Milled 52.08/58.12 | 35" Scotty Cameron Studio Select | Titleist Pro V1 | Leupold GX-1 Rangefinder

When you just starting at a driving range/golf course, what club do you use for warming up?

I usually just go and practice pitching and putting. Then go play. If I go to the range I'll usually start with my pw doing 3/4 shots, concentrating to rythm and tempo. After about 6 or 7 balls I'll pull out my 2i and do nice, easy full swings. If that feels good I'll move to my mid irons; if not I'll usually drop down to my 4i and do the same thing as I did with my 2i.

    • Day 198 (16 Nov 24) - A little backyard pitching fun with the grandson with wedges, foam balls today.  Love working with him on short game drills.  Priceless is the word.

    • A strong grip cups the wrist (lead) and then it wants to flatten through impact, something I used to be able to avoid to keep it from going left and protecting my forearm (the main premise of my set up). Longer the club, harder it is becoming. Either way, yes, I need to transition to gripping it open.
    • Why don't you grip it "open" so you can return your hand to the place where you're comfortable/not sore, but the ball won't go left? It's effectively weaker… without actually "being" weaker?
    • Day 47 - 2024-11-16 Light backswing work with about 3 or 4 rehearsals for every ball hit. Only about ten minutes while waiting for a potential member to show up (he was 25 minutes late). 😛
