Ever vented at your club?

I am a member of a privately owned club. It was opened in 1994 and has progressed slowly, but since then a gym has been built and log cabins are also on the land so it is more of a 'country club' now. As one of the better players at the club I am getting really frustrated at the way it is being run. It is not the hardest course in the world and with so many high handicappers the CSS is normally 2 - 3 under so for the better players getting down is really hard.

Should I send an open letter to the committee? I hate the fact that we have a committee but yet it is still owned by one man who can make any decision he likes. I just think they need to see what is happening to the course and how it effects the members, I feel most of the committee are just yes men.

My main gripe is with bunkers on the course. Now we are not a Lytham and St. Annes with 365 bunkers but we had a few. Off the top of my head we used to have 33 over the 18 holes. Now we only have 27. So nearly 20% of the bunkers have gone for no good reason.

Also we have 1 fairway bunker over 50 yards and that had 3 tall tree on the front lip so it is just a splash out. I remember the first time I played another course and went in a fairway bunker I genuinely didn't have a clue what to do.

I guess I am just being pathetic but it has the potential to be a fantastic little course if some thought was put into it.

Do you know if they are doing ok with money because it's cheaper to not have traps. I played a public course the other day that basically was down to 10 bunkers and no fairway bunkers. I would go to a committee and see what the plans are for the course.

I threw an iron into a tree once, and i broke my putter on my foot before... But that was over 8 years ago, i have cooled my temper alot. The most angry i get is when i go totally silent, even if people are talking to me. I rather do that then vent my anger outwards.

Ha! Funny thing is, when I clicked on the thread, I expected a thread like "I slammed my club into some rough after I hit it fat on my approach" or something. Love replies that are relevant to the title but not the thread.

YES! I have vented at my club. See my "So sick of my course can I get an amen" thread.

I solved it!! I moved to another club. Now my scores are higher, along with my enjoyment of the game! lol
It's only been 3 rounds, but I've moved to a much tougher course.
