Just new to this game, and I'm just looking for what you look for when reading a green.

When looking at the path, from whatever angle, what are you looking for, the slopes, the shadows, where the water is going down?

Or what would you wished somebody told you about greens when you first started !!!

Reading green advice:

1) less break on up hill putts and
2) more breaks on down hill putts
3) watch the ball roll pass the hole to judge the amount of break comming back
4) look at the break from three angles behind, front and lowerest point all while walking up to the green
5) focus more attention on the speed of your putt and distance control
6) work on a pre-putt routine
7) one piece putting stroke
8) judge distance by the length of your back stroke and forward stroke. some putter like to keep both lengths equal.
