I use a Scotty Futura Phantom. Previously I had a Winn Midsize Medalist grip on it and recently replaced it with the stock grip. I find I'm missing a lot of putts to the left. I will be going back to the midsize since it appears to work for me but the question is, can a smaller grip have a direct relation to missing putts left?

I'm not an expert when it comes to grips...... but, philosophically, it would make sense. Many people believe that the bigger the grip, the less "wristy" you are. If you are getting more wrist action in your stroke, the result would usually be a pull to the left (assuming you are right handed).

i've actually gone to one of those jumbo Super Stroke grips (aka KJ Choi) and I really like it (except it barely fits into the slot in my bag where I keep my putter!); it really has helped taked the wrist action out of my putting stroke.

Yes, a larger grip can limit the movement of the hands and wrists through the ball on the putting stroke.

I've had great results with a midsize +3 wraps Winn putter grip on my 2 ball and cameron.

Good to know, I know the larger grip helps with wrist action, which I didn't believe was a problem in my stroke, but pulling left can be directly related to the smaller grip. I wanted to confirm that it would be consistently left vs. just missing left and right. I know there's nothing definitive but helps to confirm my suspicion.

I guess I'll know more as soon as the weather changes and the new grip goes on...

Could it be the direction of the grip in relation to the club face? I have noticed some have (mostly blades though, not a mallet like yours) a slight offset to match grip angle. check by rotating to the left to see if it squares up the head.

Or could your stroke just be going to the left?

I'm sure it can't be me...

+1..... I have the Super Stroke Lite Fatso, not as heavy as the orig. SS, but I have NEVER putt this well before.

I sold my spider with the SS Lite on it. I should have regripped before selling. They weren't interested in the grip anyway. Two problems though, I felt it was TOO big and it also was a pain in the neck trying to get it back in the bag. I've had this discussion before but it drives me insane when I have to fight the clubs to go back into the bag. INSANE!

This could be an opportunity to work on your putting stroke with the smaller grip, flaws in your putting stroke will be exposed. I would practice a couple of more weeks with the small grip and it might help your overall putting stroke in the long run. In the meantime practice putting as much as you can.
