Have you guys seen this new ad for Burner irons? Narrator goes on about how each feature is optimized and revolutionary and then at the end says "and every Burner iron is better than any iron in your bag." I about fell out my chair laughing. That sounds like something from an eight-year-old. I'm sure TM thinks their clubs are great, and they may be, but to make such a ridiculous statement I think will turn more people off than on.

Think how awesome we'd be if we played Burners - these crappy Mizunos are holding us back!!

What if you are playing the R9 irons? Are they better than those too?

I love some of the golf ads out there. Especially the ones that say something along the lines of 'the best ______ ever'. So what your saying is the club I bought from you last year sucks? And if every club is better than the last, why did it take you so long to get to the best? Where was it 5 years ago?

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Yep, that's pretty much what they're saying.

On a related note, I just bought last year's Nike driver.

They should be honest:

The new Burner - 10% shinier than last year. New Mizuno MP68 - 12 months newer than last years model!!

If they wanted to be honest, they could also say "the new burner features 20% more fake carbon fiber stickers than any other iron on the market" or "look clunkier at address than 80% of the clubs on the market!"

My favorite is #1 in golf!

How can there possibly be 5 number one balls, 4 number one drivers, 7 number one irons, etc.

I don't get it, "number one according to our advertising agencies" I guess.

Speaking of advertising, anyone ever hit any of the Bobby Jones clubs, I see the infomercials all the time on golf channel, just wonder if anyone has tried any of them, wedges, hybrids, fairway woods or driver. If only they made irons and a putter. They look like good clubs, just dont think they're worth the price they're asking for them on tv, im sure they're on ebay for less. They seem to claim a lot of awards and endorcements from magazines.

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
