Had one of those rounds...

You know, one of those rounds that really makes you want to quit. I hit some really good shots, but they didn't out number, nor make up for, my bad ones. Hogan used to say that the better golfer was the one who hit the better "bad" shots. That wasn't me tonight. I really really hope that I've got that out of my system now. Oh well, that's what you get when you go a full week w/out touching a club. Golf is a lot more difficult when you have a 6 year-old, a 4-year old and 3 week old.

Now I can't wait to get back out on the course. You know, redemption. Funny, when I was playing, I couldn't wait to get off the course. Hell of a game isn't it? Sigh...

Alright, I feel better now. May the birdies be plentiful during my next round. Amen.

I know exactly what you mean (although my handicap is significantly higher than yours so I've probably got a slighter differing view on 'bad' shots). Luckily, so far this year, I haven't had a round that made me want to walk off the course. I've had a few moments where I strung REALLY poor holes together, but otherwise - I've been playing okay for myself.

I hope it gets better for you.

Those are the days that resulted in me breaking my driver shaft back in High School by smashing it against my bag. I was a stupid hot tempered kid back then...but god help me if I can control myself after a ridiculously bad slice.

Yeah, that's why I didn't post my score (too much disparity in handicaps, what is "bad" for one isn't necessarily so for the next guy). It was just one of those frustrating rounds where nothing seemed to go well. I wasn't just missing a shot here and there either. I was hitting all out terrible shots that I'd follow with something brilliant. The biggest frustration was that I'm not sure what to take away from the round, as in; what did I learn or what do I need to work on? I think that I just need to chalk it up to a bad day and learn that, mentally, I can follow a really bad shot with a good one. The whole concept of don't get too high or too low. Play through the bad and enjoy the good. Oh well, I'll do better next time.

I just finished one of those rounds. I didn't have any "blow up" holes; I just could hit a GIR to save my life, my short game (usually my savior) left me in two putt situations all afternoon, and I just couldn't lag putt at all. Very frusterating round. Nothing was working right in my game!

Usually when I'm off, there's just one particular part of my game that's not working right. Typically it's my woods and long irons. My short game is usually solid and my putting is average......but NOTHING was working right.

What I Play:

Driver: R9 460
4 Wood: G15

Hy: Callaway FT 3Hy

Irons: AP1 4-PW

Wedges: Vokey 52* & 60*, Mizuno MP-T 10 58*

Putter: Newport Studio Select 2.7

Ball: Nike One Vapor

I'm not the only one! What you said perfectly describes my round last night. 1 out of 9 GIR, poor chipping, below average putting...the whole deal. I was playing a very tight course with greens the size of a postage stamp that didn't hold anything. Despite leaving myself in a comfortable range for my approach, I couldn't hit greens.

This round was with my golf league, so although I was frustrated with my swing and struggles, I tried to take it in stride. The league is set up for the higher handicap players to win, so I just go out to play and work on various things.

In the bag:
Ping G5 Driver 9 degree, Ping G10 3-wood, Nike 3 hybrid, TaylorMade R9 Irons 4-AW, Cleveland CG15 56 and 60 degree wedges, Odyssey 2-ball blade putter

I could have made the same reply, nearly verbatim. Hopefully we can all turn things around for our next round.

It was the same for my round. I hit just 2 of 9 GIR. But even those two I did hit, I couldn't have been further away from the pin - and as I said I could lag putt .... so those two GIRs ended up being 3 putts. I hate that. I guess if I don't feel a nice groove with my finese short game, everything feels out of sink and I just can't get comfortable over the ball.
