thats pretty cool. Ping hasnt made a forged iron before , have they? Looks like they have a metal insert on the sole like the ap2's as well,

that's how Ping got started, with forged irons back in 1961, they soon went to cast (vestment), can't wait till they hit production on these in the US, soon I hear

These don't really look that much different that the I15's. But good to see a forged iron! Can't wait to hit these one day!

yea thats what the video said but still why not release them all at the same time. I mean its not like they arent going to sell good in the US.

different market and production cost. Releasing them all at once would mean they have to kick up production by quite a bit to say the least which costs them a very large amount of money.

what Ping's motive is, who knows, they could be releasing in Japan first to get test responses before fully releasing in US, or previous Ping clubs might have had a better response in the Japan market prior, thus releasing a new set in Japan first.

Will they sell well? Are there really that many PING guys out there who crave forged irons? Who don't already have a set somewhere?

I'll definitely pick up a set, and the best part is the standard black dot with stiff shafts works perfect for me, So I won't have to wait for a special order

hmm I see Ping is taking titleist's new idea and putting it on their new forged iron. The insert on the sole. Pings should be a good iron. I just dont like the clunky look of it although it is a little cleaner than most Ping irons. Dont get me wrong Ping irons are good, they just have a weird look.

These irons look awesome I can only imagine how they will feel when struck. One thing I've learned is that folks who play Pings stay with Pings throughout thier lives. Thats some good brand loyalty.

it's funny you say that, because I just went through a club fitting with Titleist after using Pings my whole life, needless to say I'll be using Pings the rest of my life

    • I am currently playing a Cobra Ltdx LS 9 degree driver and Cobra Ltdx LS FW3. Both with Tensei White stock stiff shafts and original weights of 12g (heel) and 3g (toe). My miss is usually a pull fade or sometimes a slice, swing is out to in. Driver swing speed about 112 mph. Grips are stock regular. Intended change: Driver: Switching to Tensei White x-flex one inch shorter which I suppose would be 44,5? Changing heel weight to 18g. Changing grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Change hosel setting to standard draw. FW3: Changing heel weight to 16g (apparently not available in FW weights, but supposed to be something called "internal weight" a club builder can add which fits between the weight and the screw?). Change grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Changing hosel setting to standard +1. The goal is to 1) get better grip since I tend so lose grip in warm and moist conditions with the current grips and 2) mitigate the misses to start more straight with less side spin. Also considering adding the Cobra Ltdx LS FW5 instead of my old Taylormade R9 and getting 14g heel and 6g toe weights with the same grip as the others and hosel setting standard +1.   All of the above is based on conversations with ChatGPT and, as everyone knows, it can come up with pretty much whatever but I spent a few hours asking about different perspectives etc and this was the recommendation. So, my question is basically, does it make any sense?   Thanks.
