Anyone know of a way to remove some old grip tape from inside of a saved grip? I was thinking a lot of work with mineral spirits and a long set of forceps but I'm not sure I could find forceps that long...

No need for the posts about "why would you save the grip, go buy new ones, etc." These are New Decades with only a few rounds on them. So, at 8 bones a piece with 5 grips, I'd prefer a little work and save them.

The tape stuck more to the grip than the shaft? Strange.

Anyways, solvent should get it off I suppose. Perhaps Goo-Be-Gone or something like that, as long as it doesn't damage the grip itself.

Yeah, the solvent would help release the glue, however getting the tape out of the grip is the real tricky part. I was wondering if they soaked in mineral spirits could you blow out the tape with an air compressor? Its become more of a challenge than anything at this point.

If the tape sticks to the inside cavity of the grip, it would perhaps be hard to blow it out. You can perhaps scrape it out with a long thing with a hook on it.

Here ya go. I have one of these but rarely use it. Almost any grip I remove is going in the trash bin so hardly ever re-use grips.

A pistol cleaning rod with a brush attachment would do it. .45 caliber should be big enough to get the job done.

MGP and rudygu, great ideas! I already have a shotgun cleaning rod, I have no idea why I didn't think of that with the different attachments! Brilliant!!!!!

    • Maybe approach the superintendent and suggest you experiment by marking 1 or 2 holes with acceptable white marking paint. I think there are versions for turf and others for pavement. See how it looks and determine whether other players like it or hate it. I don’t think a public access course owes a group any special support. At the same time, a course shouldn’t dismiss out of hand an offer to properly mark the course.
    • The messaging from the Steelers before the season was that Wilson was going to be the starter. It shouldn't be that much of a surprise that they'd want to give him a shot once he was ready. Being from Ohio, I root for our old Buckeyes including Fields, despite his current team.  He's always been perceived as not quite a good enough passer to make an NFL team a playoff contender. That's why the Bears let him go. I'm not sure how much better Wilson is at this point, but he's got that pedigree as a passer that Fields never has had. They are different style quarterbacks, so if they really do start Wilson, it will be interesting to see how cohesive the offense looks. The NYJ defense isn't exactly a soft one to start with.
