Really thought Westwood was gonna close the deal this time. Scene is becoming all too familiar - a la Monty, as another poster commented.

Sometimes, a guy with closing issues has to win from behind, like Clark did. Seems to be easier than winning from the final group.

I thought he would break through too. But not to be. He's going to have a tough time breaking through. Perhaps as you suggested, a come from behind will be the way he gets it done. But I like Clark too. He has been over due as well.

I'm not worried about Westwood: he keeps his head up in defeat. He's not like Montgomerie or Garcia, who really took the letdown of coming so close hard on themselves that the gloom has consumed both of them. Lee's more like Phil, who never seemed as disappointed over his close calls as the press did. I think Lee will get his big win soon.

I agree I am starting to doubt Westwood has it in him to finish the job in a Major (I know The Players isn't an official Major but you know what I mean) yes he won the RTD and European Order of Merit/Money List but he seems to fall away in Majors, he relies on his driving and long game, when that is off (as it was yesterday) he does not have a good enough short game to recover, ok he holed two amazing puts but for PAR's and not Birdie’s, I knew he was gonna stick it in the drink at 17, just knew it.
Gutted as I think that if he got that elusive 1st Major out the way the pressure would be of and he could well make it to world number 1, until that Major is won he will be where he is now at best...
