I had a club fitting last week and had some clubs made for me, I had a round last friday, but that was more of a tryout round if you know what I mean?

I play in a small tournamant with some friends from the UK twice a year when they come over, we play all four of our CC courses in a stableford format and tha highest stableford score wins, I was just in front by two points going into the last round today, I was a bit nervous playing with my new clubs but after getting a birdie on the first hole (par 5) the nerves just went.
I shot 39 on the front and 42 on the back, I think if the wind had not got so bad on the back nine I would more than likely broke 80, the wind was howling, I ended up with 44 points.

I think if you get the chance to get custom fitted it is worth every penny and if you are in Florida I can highly recomend the guy who did mine, his name is Dan Brown, he has a converted RV and is completely mobile and can go anywhere in the state of Florida.

If any one one would like to get his details just PM me and I will be happy to pass them on.

How long had you been playing with your previous clubs? Did you feel a big difference in your ball striking? Are you more self-taught or have you worked with pros?

just a few questions... I'm intrigued by getting clubs fitted, but I don't think it would make sense for me until I can't get any better with the clubs that I have... when I'm 60

went to get fitted for the very first time EVER for my "new to me irons",,,,guess what....they were pefect OTR
I was hitting it dead square every time
dude said he would keep the tape off a couple to show people what it should look like when ur irons are adjusted to fit (no word of a lie...pun not intended !haha)

but my irons are about 1º upright stock, compared to most OEM's......

Did you get a gold star too? haha j/k that is pretty cool, especially if you ever see the pro showing someone during a fitting.

I had played with my OEM set of Cobras for about eighteen months, I felt like I was hiting them fairly well but I just couldn't hit my 4 iron and was very inconsistant with my PW, the guy did what he called a "blueprint" of my clubs and found that the 4 iron and the PW shafts not the correct CPM (cycles per Minute) as what they should be and also the swing weight was out quite a bit, he told me that whether I was swinging an 8i or a 6i or even a PW they should all feel the same in relation to weight and feel.

My new shafts that he installed on my old r7 heads that I had in the garage do feel consistant throughout the set. I was mainly self tought and got down to about a 15, my wife got me a three day all inclusive weekend at the Nick Faldo golf Institute in Orlando and they totally destroyed my game, I allmost quit completely then my daughter decided that she wanted to play and take lessons so I went to see the pro at my club and she asked why she hadn't seen me for a while, after a little persuasion from her and my daughter I'm back into it big time with a handicap of 14 and dropping I feel, my goal is to a single digit by Jan 1st !!

Getting custom fit is what every serious golfer should do. Why play clubs that are bulit for a "standard" golfer by buying off the rack. Instead of changing your swing to fit the club, get the clubs to fit your swing!

Definitely go get fitted. I recently got fitted for a set after playing off the rack for years. I had to get clubs bent 2 degrees flat with a midsize grip. They completely changed my game and mindset. The change could just be mental, but looking down at clubs fitted just for you makes me trust my swing that much more. I always thought it didn't matter, but I was wrong!

Shouldn't a player wait to do that until they have a good swing? Why would I want to get fitted for clubs when i can't even swing the club right and consistently? That just doesn't make sense. I would rather spend money on lessons that clubs... But i hit my clubs really well as is, and I'm still learning the game
