OK, that may be taking it a bit far, but today my karma came back to me. As I was walking off the 18th I was shaking hands and making small talk and walked off and left my 8 iron laying greenside after a chip. At home 3 hours later I was doing my post round cleaning and reached for the empty slot where my 8i usually sits and had a sinking feeling in my gut. I knew immediately where I had left it and jetted over to the course which is only a few blocks from my house. I talked to the manager and he immediately gave me a huge grin and handed me my 8 iron. I asked him if he knew who turned it in. He gave me a name, and the days of the week when the guy usually plays. So now I can tell the guy thanks, shake his hand and buy him a drink or a meal at the clubhouse. After all the times I turned stuff in that was lost on the course, the first time I lose something of value an honest person turns it in. It's nice to know there are still honest people in this world.

Thanks Bill!!

"Do unto others" definitely applies on the golf course. A few rounds ago I found a cell phone on the golf course and picked it up. Whoever lost it called after I found it, and I told her I'd leave it at the starter for her.

What use do I have for someone else's cell phone, let alone someone's used club?

That's awesome to hear. Knock on wood... I've never left a club behind, but if I do... I REALLY hope someone is as honest as you and whoever it was who returned your club.

I lost a pair of Oakley sunglasses while we were in Disney World at the beginning of March. I knew exactly where I left them... and I was told to go, the following day, to the lost and found over by the kennels in Disney. When I told the guy what I was looking for... he literally laughed at me and said... "I'll check, but I can tell you they ain't here!" I asked why and he said that anything of value NEVER turns up... especially something that isn't personalized.

My brother and I turned in $5,000 when we were 12 and 14 years old. They were tearing down a house at the end of our block and they put an old trunk out on the corner for garbage. Being bored... we dug through it to see what was in it. My brother found an envelope... and when he opened it... there was a butt-load of cash in it. We immediately took it to the police station. They contacted the previous owners of the house and the money was returned.

To lose a $200 pair of sunglasses... I felt like killing someone. To lose $5,000... I wouldn't FEEL like killing someone... I'd probably do it.

Anyway... this got off topic. Glad your club was returned!

Not to rain on your parade, but getting back an 8iron is easy, because they have little resale value. Wedges, on the other hand, often go unreturned. People either keep them for themselves, since they don't need to match your set, or sell them.

Sad but true, at least in my experience.

Glad you got your stick back, though.

that was nice of him, I forgot my hybrid headcover on a 9, and then I played it again later that day, and there it was right in the fairway still. I guess every1 misses the fairway.

He probably looked at it and said, I can't hit this Titleist ZB anyways, might as well give it back.

I returned a 5 wood this past weekend. The look on the lost owners face was priceless, but I had it in my bag ready to hand over.

Today my playing partner left his PW TWICE behind on greens. Story is he left his PW one time at home (practicing in the back yard) when he went to Florida. So he purchased one there exactly as the one he left. Well he keeps both in his bag for whatever reason. When he returns to his bag he sees the extra wedge there and does not think about the one he left.

Whatever I know it is strange. LOL

But moral of the story is both times the guys behind us went out of their way to run it up to us.

I dont think I will EVER leave a wedge behind. I have a routine. When ball is on green putter comes out and head cover is left in cart.

When off green I grab 56* and 60* wedges and putter with cover on it. When I get to green after chipping wedges lay down and putter cover is thrown on top. So when I get back to cart, if I don't have a cover for my putter, that is covered after every hole, something is missing.

Good idea, but here in the Dakota's, your putter cover might be two fairways over by then.
