My local pro shop ordered the irons in my sig two Mondays ago, and they haven't arrived yet... is this typical for Ping to take 2+ weeks? Has anyone had any experience with special ordering from Ping?

Yes. Especially if they are back ordered. Give it another week and then ask your Pro to call. He should have an order/confirmation number to look it up.

Yeah mine were around 2 weeks for the i15's but they are the new line, it may take a little longer for the i10's due to increase in orders when they come down in price, they are still a very popular choice

I just ordered my titleist ap2 irons last monday and Titleist had to make them. It took them 6 business days to make them and then they shipped them out the 6th day. Coming from california so overall time period when they get to my house is 2 weeks. Not bad compared to what some people have said.

My Callaways are on back order but I did not know this until I called Golfsmith and asked them about it. I got fitted and ordered 4/22. Did not receive a call by the 30th so I called Golfsmith and the guy who handles the shipments was really nice and called Callaway for me. Apparently, they are having issues with getting the heads made and he said it won't be until the 1st of June!! Gave me the option to cancel or wait it out, I decided to wait. Got my current clubs regripped in the meantime.

It sucks, I'm used to just buying off the shelf. Never bought a brand new release set before, always waited until a year or two for the set to be in the retail lines. Oh well.

I was already expecting 1 wk to get them. Oh well, now I am expecting 3wks just to save for fustration. I am sure the wait is going to pay off. Atleast my putter will be in this Friday.

I just custom ordered a new set of Taylormade burner irons back on the 4th. Received an e-mail from golfsmith with basically an order number but still cannot find out any other info on the order. All I know is the anticipation is killing me.

My G5s took about 2 weeks to come in. Sounds like yours should probably be ready to go in a week or so.

Yeah, so hopefully by the end of this week (that'll be three weeks). I'm frustrated with my old irons (g5s) because they are an inch too short and 2 degrees too flat, and it is affecting my ability to improve. I'll let you know when they come in.

Call them, that's what I had to do. Otherwise you will not hear from Golfsmith until the order comes in. When I called and told the person answering the phone I was wondering where my order was, they transferred me to whomever actually handles the receiving and this person had contact with Callaway directly. He took my number down and after he talked to Callaway he called me back with the info. Not sure if this depends on the person handling the call but it seems reasonable they would find out for you. Hell, they put a hold transaction on my credit card for the order so they better do what they can to find out.

    • Never practiced golf when I was young and the only lesson ever taken was a driver lesson. I feel like I'm improving every year. However, the numbers don't support my feeling about improving. I usually drop to 12-13 during the summer while playing the familiar courses around home and then go on golf trips in the fall to new courses and increase to end the year between 15-17. Been a similar story for a number of years now but hey, it's the best thing there is in life so not too bothered but reaching 9.9 is the objective every year. Maybe a few lessons and practice could help me achieve it since I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing, just playing and never practice.
    • I am semi-loyal. Usually buy four dozen of one ball and only play that until out and then determine whether to continue or try another one. Since starting my semi-loyal path to success, I've been playing the below, not in order: ProV1 ProV1x ProV1x left dash AVX Bridgestone BXS Srixon Z-star XV I am not sure if it has helped anything, but it gives a bit of confidence knowing that it at least is not the ball (while using the same one) that gives different results so one thing less to mind about I guess. On the level that I am, not sure whether it makes much difference but will continue since I have to play something so might as well go with the same ball for a number of rounds. Edit: favorite is probably the BXS followed by ProV1/Srixon Z-star XV. Haven't got any numbers to back it up but just by feel.
    • Will not do it by myself, going to the pro shop I usually use after Cristmas for input and actually doing the changes, if any, but wanted to get some thoughts on whether this was worthwhile out of curiosity.
    • In terms of ball striking, not really. Ball striking being how good you are at hitting the center of the clubface with the swing path you want and the loft you want to present at impact.  In terms of getting better launch conditions for the current swing you have, it is debatable.  It depends on how you swing and what your current launch conditions are at. These are fine tuning mechanisms not significant changes. They might not even be the correct fine tuning you need. I would go spend the $100 to $150 dollars in getting a club fitting over potentially wasting money on changes that ChatGPT gave you.  New grips are important. Yes, it can affect swing weight, but it is personal preference. Swing weight is just one component.  Overall weight effects the feel. The type of golf shaft effects the feel of the club in the swing. Swing weight effects the feel. You can add so much extra weight to get the swing weight correct and it will feel completely different because the total weight went up. Imagine swinging a 5lb stick versus a 15lb stick. They could be balanced the same (swing weight), but one will take substantially more effort to move.  I would almost say swing weight is an old school way of fitting clubs. Now, with launch monitors, you could just fit the golfer. You could have two golfers with the same swing speed that want completely different swing weight. It is just personal preference. You can only tell that by swinging a golf club.
    • Thanks for the comments. I fully understand that these changes won't make any big difference compared to getting a flawless swing but looking to give myself the best chance of success at where I am and hopefully lessons will improve the swing along the way. Can these changes make minor improvements to ball striking and misses then that's fine. From what I understood about changing the grips, which is to avoid them slipping in warm and humid conditions, is that it will affect the swing weight since midsize are heavier than regular and so therefore adding weight to the club head would be required to avoid a change of feel in the club compared to before?
