My 3W has a loft of 15.5 and a shaft of 43" (very long......) and I can't handle the thing consistently, choking down about 1" .... it sure get's better ! Maybe I should have it shortened to 42"

My 2H has a loft of 17 and a shaft of 41" and it is great !

Do I need the 3W ...... I am not sure, adding a 1H with a loft of 15 ..... I can hardly imagine it makes sense or will add much to the 2H.

Will a shortened 3W be the best option ?

why not just use the 2H?

How far do you hit it? do you really need more distance?

If you want another Titleist 909H, they make a 15* with a 41.5 inch shaft.

I am playing driver, 1H and a full set of irons and wedges. My 16 degree 1H is 41.5" long, and it plays just shy of a 3 wood distance for me. It's very accurate and consistent from the deck and tee, and allows me to carry an extra wedge.

Yep, and I see you have the halo. Cleveland makes good hybrids, as the head are not as thick as others.

About 215 yds ....... Driver is about 265 yds ...... OK it is a gap, but it really isn't important.

My 3i and 3H are about equal 190-200 yds, both have their uses ! Maybe I should add a low bounce 60 instead.

I may sound like a broken record on here but I am a huge advocate of carrying extra wedges if your course demands it. I suppose you need to ask yourself where do you loose the most strokes in a round, from missing the fairway or not getting up and down enough from inside 100 yards, especially when you have a half wedge or something like that.

But I would say for sure get the 3-wood cut down to standard as a starting point. Won't cost much if it is a steel shaft and you may get on far better than you do even by choking down.

From the top:

shorten the shaft will somehow stiffen the shaft.........be aware of that and if you're happy with 2H, I would suggest to stick with that until you are comfortable with the extra length..........a good hit with 2H of 17 degree should get reasonable distance without the hassle.

I play a 1h instead of 3w and no 5w, driver, 1h, 3h, 4h then regular irons.

a poorly hit 1h ends up alot better than a bad 3w, theres not a huge amount of difference in distance. Which lets me can play 4 wedges, 47, 52, 57, 62

OK thanks for all the advise, went to the shop this morning and hitted with their demo H1 15, if there was 10 yards extra in it compared to the H2 17 ....... so no way to add a H1.

They advised me to try a 5 wood F3 instead ...... pwfewww that was about what I was looking for and I also liked the Matrix Ozik Xcon shaft.

CU, Gerald.
