Played twice this week and bot times have had twat's behind being loud every time we are on the tee, Wednesday when I asked the bloke what his problem was he said he was bored of waiting for us (play was backed up) we said he was welcome to play through and wait like we are for all the 4 balls in front and that shouting his way down the fairway was not the correct way to go about things, finished the round off and had a good day 88.

Today I was playing 18 and we were a 2 ball so asked teh 2 behind us if they wanted to join on the 1st tee, not they said wanted to play on their own so off we went, on the 2nd hole there was a 1 ball so we joined with him, on the 3rd I hit my drive and had aorund 247 down hill to the green (par 5 dogleg) so I was waiting as I can hit that with a 2 wood and the 4 ball in front were clearing the green, now I have bloody good hearing and could hear this twat behind on the tee say "anytime today will be good" so I let it go, played the 4th and as we were leaving the green they were hitting into it, left that and walked to the 5th tee, now my 2 playing partners teed off and as I was they had already finished putting and stood there talking with hands on hips, so again I we left it (by now I was kinda feeling pressured and not playing great off the tee, lost 4 balls already and driving like a hacker) anyway we play that hole and again we are on the 6th tee as they were on the green (not sure if they were just hitting the greens and having gimmies as they could not be that fast) I am last to tee off and as I come into impact one of them shouts "damn bunker" so that is it, I shout up to them (raised green above) "come on guys do you have to make so much noise when we are on the tee" this old cockney (thought he was Ronnie Kray) says "well if you hurry up we will be quiet" so I lost it and said "oh that is great mate, what a great way to speed up play (bearing in mind we were on track for 1hr 50mins for 9 which is not slow by any means) and he threatens to "knock me down the bank if I speak to him like that again" well how I managed not to walk over and break his f**king legs with my 3 wood I do not know but I just said "oh yeah hit me, what a great bit of golf etiquette that would be" and walked off, my buddy called golf services and said we had been threatened so the Marshalls turned up and spoke to them, by now I had had a f**k full so I teed off on the 7th and hit OOB so that was it for me, I left my mate play with the other lad and called it a day, I was dripping with sweat as it was 26deg here today (which is bloody hot for the UK before you say) and felt like I had ran 18 let alone 6 holes... anyway later that day the Membership Manager called to have a chat and thanked me for not "breaking the blokes legs" as that would have got me banned (no shit) but that the bloke is a trouble maker and he is one of the type of members they are trying to get rid of so sorry for the shite we had.

Made me feel a bit better as I was thinking maybe I was in the wrong for saying something and I should have just kept quiet, but I just beat my self up then if I don't say anything, but the bloke is obv a dick head so hey ho.

What the f**k is wrong with some golfers who want to do 18 in the world record!

Rant over.....

Good for you.

I know a lot people would handled that situation far differently. It's always best to just pick up and walk away before someone gets hurt, loses a membership or even worse..... (saw a guy get arrested for assault on the course before)

Keep on keeping on and let your cooler head prevail good sir.

machine gun nests beside the ball washers on all tees should be installed with a big neon sign flashing " ARE YOU TALKING TO ME?!!"

very rude, had that happened at my course & the troublemaker was identified as a known trouble maker he would be out on his ass.... btw did this happen at celtic manor as I see its your home track??

played 9 holes today, but it's a 27 hole course, when we got there walking to the clubhouse this 4some was on the 18th of the North course (being all kinds of loud..seemed like they were in the girly club not the golf course), so their next 9 was on the South course, when we were on the 1st tee box of the West Course we could heard them all the way over on the South #1...and I'm talking a good football field or more away......they had 1 to many from the sight of them...you have idiots of some sort everywhere on the Golf course, weather speed or loudness

Good for you for not stooping down to his level! Your group did the right thing here. "If you hurry up we will be quiet." What an absolute child.

Cheers guys, glad I did the right thing.

It has made me think, I got really wound up after I walked off and was on the way home and beat up on my self in my head that I had wimped out on kicking the guys ass for threatening to knock me down the bank, but after this feedback I am gonna try and not think like that any more in all situations, who cares if he thought he got one over on me, plus if I had I kicked his ass I may have ended up in prison or he may have kicked my ass and put me in a wheelchair or summit, all things I can do with out as a young father with two kids and a wife, oh and a love of golf

I was playing 18 yesterday and a guy in the group in front of me shattered his driver in three pieces on the 18th tee. I'm walking up a hill to the green and I look over to the tee box and a guy slams his driver on the cart and the head of the driver snaps off, then he did it again and the shaft snapped in half. Then I realized it was the same guy who I saw three holes earlier on a fairway accross from me screaming his head off cussing and slamming his clubs down.

9 Holes--37 @ The Fairways at Arrowhead-Front(+2)

18 Holes--80 @ Carroll Meadows Golf Course(+9)

2) Mayfair Country Club

Good timing for this thread, i have a related story to share from over the weekend. I dont get to play with my friends very often, but we all got out together on saturday for a nassau. We are all 7 and under handicaps, and we play pretty quickly. We have these 4 guys behind us in carts playing better ball (how lame is that?) and they continunally hound us to speed up on the front 9. They're were groups in front of us, but they were all on time so the wait for us was minimal.

We were going to let them through before we noticed the attitude coming from them. I think they figured that they were better golfers because they had to wait on us. We all agreed if they want to play better ball in carts behind four walkers then they can wait. They tried to hit into us a few times, but these guys werent very good and sliced most of their drives 180 yards. There is a wait on a long par 3 and they approach us while we sit. They give us the usual ra-ra (why arent you letting us through?) and all that. My friend tommy, (who struggles with filltering his mouth to begin with) responds with something to the effect of " there are groups in front and i dont want to sit behind you watch your shit golf for 2 hours. I might become infected by it" Nice. They get much more mad and then i respond with "why dont you put your money where your mouths are" They backed off after that and just took their time. We almost baited these chops into a money game, it would have been sweet.

You did the right thing, even as difficult as the knucklehead made it seem, since losing your cool to the point of a physical altercation is a lose/lose in the end. Given the great home course to which you state in your sig - it would indeed be a great shame to lose out playing there because this idiot pushed you too far. As I tell my kids, only you can control what you do - don't allow others to make the choice for you (in most situations, like being a bad sport in sports,...).

If I was 15 years younger, perhaps the more rambunctious me would have been easier to entice into a scrum - with age comes (some) wisdom...
