Baseball grip...

I tried baseball grip a couple of time in high school. Great distance the first few holes, but then I lost control of where the ball was going.

Cary Middlecoff's book, The Golf Swing , says that in Harry Vardon's era, golfers wrapped their thumbs around the shaft and held the club in their palms rather than their fingers. Vardon had large hands with long, thick fingers, and developed a grip that solved his problem of "finding room on the club" for his hands. The implication, according to Middlecoff, is that players with smaller hands might not need to overlap.

not a big fan of the baseball grip. I have tried it, and my pops uses it religiously. I tried to get him to try other grips but he wont change. He is also a lefty that hooks the really hard.
