The Taylormade TP Black. They are $30 a dozen, and I can hit anything from a wedge to a 7 iron and the ball stops, drops and rolls back on the green. These are really good golf-balls, and for a guy like me who either hits his driver straight or 280 yards into the woods it is very economical. They have a urethane cover that lasts as long as the Pro V-1s

Anyone else try these balls? I found out about them in the recent Golf Digest Hot List, but haven't seen too much talk about them.

The best value is the pro v1 practice balls on TGW. They are anywhere between 25 and 30 a dozen and they are no different from the normal except they say practice on them.

I think the majority of people here played the TP Reds over the TP Blacks. When they were selling 2 dozen for $55 last year, it was a great deal. I've been playing the TP Reds, but will probably try the TP Blacks since the Reds are going away. I started with the Burner LDPs (silver box), but found them too high off the tee.

Golf Digest was high on the Top Flite Gamer V2 as a ball that is economical with a lot of spin. Gripes of the first version was that it scuffed too easy. But they worked on the shell. Also its probably the cheapest 3 piece ball out there.

I thought they were selling of the TP reds because they ended up being illegal

Now that the Nike One Tour balls have dropped to $30 a dozen, I think they are probably going to give you the most spin for your dollar. If you look at it purely on the Golf Digest ball test results, statistically this is the spinniest ball for under $40 (if I remember correctly)

Found the TaylorMade TP Red at Wal-Mart for $21/dozen...yessir. Prefer it over EVERYTHING else except the Penta...

TP Black is my favorite ball, regardless of price-$27-$30/box is a nice bonus. Also like the Nike One Tour a lot, and it's $30/box. I picked up 2 dozen of the Maxfli C3 Golds at $20/box since they're rebranded TP Blacks (or Reds-doesn't matter at that price). Really no huge performance difference between any of the 3-5 piece urethane balls, but I'm certainly not spending $40-$46/box when the TP Black or Nike One Tour are available at $30.

Top Flight Gamer was pretty good spin wise, but they are 15 bucks for a reason and I can't say I loved them around the greens.

My personal favorite ball is the Nike One Tour. Great spin, and I found no other issues with them around the course.

I can still find TP Reds for $30 at the local GG, I find them to be a great all around ball. Also, I thought the Gamer I played last week was a great ball, tons of spin around the green...I bought the original version for $15 this year.

They are still being made, they are Gamer V2 now. Apparently the new Gamer has a more resilient cover, and it's made in China instead of the U.S.

Hey what about the Softest noodle?

I played the Softest Noodle exclusively for a couple of years. I love that ball! Feels soft off the irons and nice high ball flight.

I didn't find that they spun very well. They did check up ok and kind of a one or two hops and stop. I think they are designed to hit high and land soft. Not necessarily a high "spin" ball.

You should try the Noodle Softest. THe only thing I didn't like (and why I stopped playing them) is I didn't like the feel of them off the putter.

Pick up a box. If you don't like them, then you've got 24 good practice chipping balls!
