I admit. I'm a skeptic. I don't believe in product hype. Some of you guys may remember my disdain for the hype on New Decade Multicompound grips.

so when I started seeing these New Decade MultiCompound grips around... I scoffed. How much better could it possibly be than my standard Tour Velvet?

Well, as many experienced golfers know, a proper grip on your clubs can make a huge difference in your swing. You can't be swinging your club around with a slippery grip, which often happens when your hand gets sweaty or if you swing speed is fast.

Well I recently was gifted a $100 gift card for my local shop from a friend and I went shopping. I didn't have much to buy so I decided that I'd switch out the grips on my irons. Just for fun, why not.

Well yesterday, I received my irons back and my god these grips feel great. Gives me a very solid grip. Plus, I got the purple color for UW Husky Proud and it looks great.

Anyway, I am sold on these.

Yeah, i dont know of a better grip. Just a quick wipe down with a damn cloth brings them back to life, as well.

yea, i was gonna go with the tour velvet full cord's but i love the grip on the cord part and the feel of the rubber on the bottom half on the multicompounds.

Haha, I thought the title "I am a believer now" referred to Bridgestone balls. However, it's a change for the better seeing all the support the New Decade MultiCompound is getting. I've always been tempted to try them and regrip my irons, not really for the performance benefits, rather because the orange would match my bag and they'd look pretty cool.

I have them on all my clubs except for the putter. Best grips I've ever had.

Yeah, I never really that a grip could feel that much better. I have POS cord grips on my irons now, but my friend has some amazing Winn grips that just melt in my hand. I'm a believer, too. Next paycheck I'm cashing in for some new grips.

ok I'll admit, i started looking at the grips because of the color choices. :)

I was going to go with orange as well when I saw a guy's set had orange grips at the shop...looked great. Then I saw the purple and at first, my friend made the cliche purple comment....but whatever, I'm a Husky and the purple grips actually look really cool. Coincidentally, I've been enjoying my dozen of Bridgestone E6 balls so I guess it works in that aspect as well.

So what makes these grips so much better (I've never used one)? Do you guys have problems with the club slipping out of your hand with a regular tour velvet? And finally, why chord on top and rubber on bottom and not the other way around? I have never swung a full chord grip either. I use tour velvets now and dont have club slip problems, but I am regripping in the next couple of weeks.

Its not that I have a problem with the club slipping out of my hands with the regular tour velvet, never happened to me, but the New Decade MultiCompound has the "best of both words"

cords are much mroe durable and if you ahve a fast swing speed, you can wear down rubber fairly fast. They're not as soft. So with the cords on top, your gloves help reduce the harshness of the corded grips but you still get the benefit of having durable grips that really stick onto your hands. on the other hand, the rubber on bottom gives you the softness and comfort that you get from rubber for your non-gloved hands. overall, it feels great because it gives you a nice solid grip overall. Theres absolutely nothing wrong with tour velvets. I have no complaints and if i hadn't had the 100$ gift card, I would'nt have switched grips. but now that I have the new decade multicompounds...i am almost tempted to switch out the grips on my woods as well.

Just think how much better you'd hit the ball with the Black/Orange color scheme... GO BEAVS!

I love mine on my irons, I need to get my other clubs done though. Got the red/black scheme to go with my Diablos. I was fortunate to actually try them out before hand. Friend of mine got his clubs regripped in January and I absolutely loved the feel.

I've tried a bunch of grips and the MCC are definitely my favorite. I just hate the cost if you're going to regrip a set of irons. Besides the texture and general feel, there's something about the larger taper from top to bottom that just works for me. I also like the Lamkin 3gen, but found them to be slippery now that it's getting hotter and hands are sweaty. Have to find some deals on the MCCs on Ebay.
