I just caught the tail-end of a Pelz Wedge TV info commercial and heard him say that sand wedges and loft wedges should ALWAYS be fitted with Oversized grips because they help keep the wrist from too much action and therefore easier to control on softer "touch shots".

Anyone here ever heard that before?

I've heard it and it makes sense, however having tried it on one of my wedges (by accident a midsize grip was in the regulars) it is uncomfortable.

I had it on my 60 and everytime I picked up the club it felt different than all the others and that feeling does not instill any confidence. It was distracting, I replaced it after a few rounds so that it would match all the others.

This spring, I saw three CG14 trade-ins which had softer, spongy grips that felt thicker than normal.

Focus, connect and follow through!

My PW 52, 56 and 60 have 2 extra wraps on them. I really love the solid feel around the greens (less wrists, more stability), and it helps me from putting too much right to left on crucial approach shots.

Why would it help you from putting too much left to right? I thought larger grips would help you from putting too much right left (for righties).

I have oversized round grips on my 56 and 60 wedges and regular ribbed (with extra tape) on each of my other clubs. Works well for me.

never have heard that before. i dont see how that would help but thats me. I think the grips should be consistent on all clubs minus the putter. mine are all midsize grips. i would feel weird if one grip was fatter or thinner than another.

Yeah... I'm retarded. Too much data analysis today (life of a grad student lab rat). Yes, left to right... larger grips quite the hands ever so slightly.
