Hi,

Below is a video of my swing. As you can see, it is a rather short swing - pretty much every swing I make is 3/4 swing. That said, the eight iron i am hitting flies about 145. Not the longest, but a playable yardage.

It looks to me that in the down to line shot i am coming over the top ever so slightly. How big a problem is that?

My missess with my mid and short irons tend to an overly flat ball flight. With my woods, I often produce a shot that is much too low, and occasionally a dead push.

Thoughts anyone?

Seems like your stance is a little narrow. It looks like you are hitting a pitch shot. Other than that I think your swing looks good. With that said, I'm not a swing coach so what do I know. I do wish I could keep my left arm as straight as you are.

Everything martytilma said-nice left arm, but widen your stance and start putting a little more into your swing.

looks like a knockdown to me, thats probably why u get the low ball flight. try loosening ure arms a bit, they look very very stiff to me and widen the stance a bit as mentioned above, also try an complete ure follow through, a short follow throgh will result in a push sometimes as ive learned.

the main problem, aside from being incredibly stiff, is your shoulders/head moving forward on the downswing, and your hips are not getting pushed forward enough. line up so your chin is just behind the ball and let it stay there, so in your downswing it's as if someone is pulling you forward with a string but your head stays put. what you are currently doing is moving your swing arc forward in the downswing which will make you hit a low push, possibly a $hank, or a pull hook if your hands get flippy trying to square up the face. loosen up a bit as well, the swing should flow like water.

They are? I've watched that video over and over, and I don't see that. But maybe that's why I'm not a PGA Pro If they are, it has to be just a little and that's amazing that you can see that. I wish I had that ability.

I can't see that either. I put my mouse cursor over my head, and to my eye my head is fairly still. One of the few good things that can be said about my swing.

?

Your head goes down at impact. Go to swingacademy.com and upload your vid. Draw a line at the top of your head at the top of your swing. Then let it play slowly. Is that a full swing?

Yes, but it does not go forward, and nor does it move the swing arc forward. That said, should i be concerned with the amount of dip I do have? Obviously, no good swing has a totally rigid head - easily proven to yourself by watching vids of the greats. Do I have too much head movement?

Its a full swing for me.

My head dips a small bit but I don't want to mess around with it.

Tiger's head stays in the same place once he starts the downswing.

Guys, a head dip isn't a bad thing, particularly with a driver since it's teed up. A head dip just means you're preparing to jump, which is where you get a lot of power. A head dip has to be the right kind to be "okay" but just because your head dips isn't necessarily bad.

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
    • IMO-the only thing entertaining was the relay race. Everything else was excruciatingly boring...or just  stupid, like the 14-club thing. Watching guys blade wedges into the water over and over is not at all interesting.
