Today I hit a drive, everything was normal. As I came around on my follow through the club fell to the ground, and I was holding about 16 inches of the shaft including the grip. IDK how or why, but it snapped clean in half. The driver is 3 or 4 years old. I have been hitting it very well and avg 56% fairways. Low ball flight and my SS is 104-105. Ive never bought an aftermarket shaft and would kinda like to keep my current club head. Anyone have any advice?

I'm a fan of the Grafalloy Prolite 35-great shaft and it's dirt cheap, and the UST Pro Force V2-also reasonably priced.

Ive seen the Pro Force V2 on sale in Golf Galaxy, but how do I get fitted for the shaft?

I was hoping the Titleist 910's would come out soon so I could pick up/try out a 909.

My brother had the exact same problem with the exact same driver. After two factory shaft replacements he bought a new driver but later had the Cleveland reshafted with a Proforce V2 stiff. He still uses it to this day and it has not broken again. Given your swing speed I think you'd do fine with the same.

Is there any way to test out a shaft, or do u just pick one based on specs and give it a shot?

There should be some guidelines on the UST website-and you can also use your former shaft as a gauge. I don't know your swing, but if you were using a stiff shaft and swing 105 I'd stick with stiff, or stiff +, which is how the V2 feels to me (a little stiff to flex). I didn't note that you were a low ball hitter initially, so I wouldn't recommend the Proforce-it's high kick with a stiff tip which keeps the ball down. V2 is mid-launch, and you could decide if you want the same weight as your old shaft or something heavier. I personally like slightly heavier driver shafts, 75-80 grams, though my Prolite is a 68 gram Xstiff. Can probably find the V2 you want on ebay for a song, and as you said, your local shops should also carry it.

Thanks for the advice. I really have to try to hit it high. I would say I usually keep my drives under the tree level (25-35ft)

    • Day 7: got out my chipping net and worked on chipping in the living room for a solid 15 minutes. Worked on mostly low shots, but mixed in a couple of high shots as well.
    • Day 228 4-4 More hip/chest turn and wrist arching. Working on hinging wrist a bit later. Foam balls.
    • Day 27 (4 Apr 26) - Worked with grandson on basic pitches/punches in the back yard with varied irons/wedges.  Wrapped up the day rolling some putts on the 30’ carpet I can set up in the yard to give varied terrain - and this carpet rolls almost too easy. A great way to figure a read and know that pace has to be near perfect to get in the hole.
    • A bit of a struggle today.  Just some thoughts/musings.  For the backswing, it is like I am never going to be moving on from this. I don't know if I can ever get to the point where the backswing isn't like over 1.5 seconds in duration. Which is probably not ideal. I would like to get to the point where I can just fling the arms back and up.  I have to feel like my hands are going to hit my right thigh from P1 to P2. If not then they like to move 2-5 inches towards the ball from P1 to P2. Then it's just bad from there. This feeling is my hands not gaining much depth, just maintaining depth from set up. From the DTL view, the hands head towards the camera.  While I am doing that, hinge the crap out of the club with my wrist only. Hinge in a way that the club is pointing at the camera at P2.  From P2, lift the hands straight up. I can get here, and still roll the club inside and get it way too shallow.  With the downswing. There isn't much here. I still can't get the flow of this or the sequencing of this to line up. It doesn't help that hinging from P1 to P2 just throws off my entire timing as well.
    • Day 550 - 2026-04-04 Practiced in the sim at a club for awhile. Did a SW ladder and practiced for awhile with my 7I.
