After a month of playing the best golf of my life, it has all come crashing down.
I couldn't do anything right.
Finished with an 86 and I'm totally demoralized.
Haven't had a double bogey since May 30, and had three today.

What do you guys to to pick yourself back up from a round like this?

I have a beer, by the time I'm finished, I've usually forgotten the round. Everyone has a bad round or a bad stretch... if you worry about it too much, it only makes it worse. Hope your next round picks up for you..

Cheers, Allan

Shurg, accept I played a poor round, then go out to play golf again the next day. If I play well over a period of time, or even just one round, I feed off it. I know I can play that well again, so I'm always trying to get in a spot where I can play like it again.

Focus on your good rounds, not the bad ones. Even Tiger Woods has a bad round here and there.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

If I'm by myself playing, I'll just try to forget about it, simple as that. If I just finished with some friends or teammates, I'll try and joke about it to lessen the stress. The worst thing I can do is go into the next round thinking: "Ok, I have to put up a great score here because my last one was so bad".

Drink the memories away!

But really just analyze what you did wrong, and really pick on certain things that you can say for sure you won't do ever again (mental errors or whatever it may be). I also had an 86 last week after a solid 73 the day before. Mainly mental mistakes and getting into a bad attitude caused my plunder, so I'm learning from that and will be better prepared for future rounds.

Fore!

1. Accept that it is inevitable

2. Start thinking about the next round.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Can feel for ya, been shooting in the 80s last few rounds then last round started par, par, 12 (what is the name for that??) and 9. Then went back to par. The 12 included an OOB and 5 putts. I sort of gave up halfway through the hole but was just frustrating. I finished the back nine with 5 pars and still shot 51! Going back out in an hour to see what I can do today!

I think you need to take a couple days off, or focus on just chipping and putting for a day or two if you can't stay away haha. This should refresh your swing and have you playing better at the same time.
