A big hello from Ireland to everyone

I came across the Forum from the Podcasts and I have to say I have been hooked reading all the reviews etc and listening to the show.

I started playing golf when I was about 12 years old and havnt had a club outa my hands since. I worked on a driving range and then in American Golf Discount for a number of years before falling into my current job.

The dream of one day being a tour pro seem dead and buried however I would love to some day become a teaching pro so the job is on to get the handicap down enough to qualify.

My golfing hero would have to be Darren Clarke due to fact that he shares the same nickname as myself.

Welcome Big D.

If I was going to go to Ireland to play golf, it wouldn't be at the K Club!

Hello, my new best friend. I'm not sure I can call you "Big D." though. Maybe just "D"?

Do you have a spare bedroom in your house? Or maybe I'll bring the old lady and just stay at the actual K-club resort.

Let me know when our tee times are.

Definatly would agree. The K Club is a fantastic course but there are so many fantastic courses around like Lahinch, Portmarnock etc.

One of the great things about the country is the choice between Parkland and links you have no matter where you go. Have no spare rooms though at the moment. Don't make enough money to afford to bring people to the K Club as it is currently around €250 a round which is lots even in dollers. Sorry to say rafci you will be third on the list as the hosts from the Golf Talk Podcasts (Eric & Jeff) are up first as they keep me entertained as I'm off to my next game in the car !

damn. I knew I shouldn't have turn down that invite to do the Podcast with them

but hey - golf is played in foursomes, right ??? But seriously - $500 greens fee? Geez, even Pebble Beach and Pinehurst #2 don't charge that. It's sweet, but hello - as Erik pointed out - there are different things we'd look for going to play golf in Ireland. I guess I'll pass

The Ryder Cup was fantastic for advertising the country and bringing tourists over however a lot of courses have decided to jack up the price for green fees to make a quick few bucks.

Hopefully by this time next year they will start to drop a bit and everyone will get the benefit

    • Day 233 (22 Dec 24) - Very late afternoon session (after watching the PNC finish - much more entertaining than the Showdown) with the 50deg, hitting nippy low flighted chips.  Really focused on foot position and keeping swing smooth.   As light was fading fast and temps were heading south of freezing, session was pretty abbreviated.
    • Tiger’s walking at the PNC and people say he’s not limping.
    • I haven't heard much of anything about it. Faux leather, sure. Biodegradable leather? No. No idea. You're a bit too new, still, to post links.
    • Okay, I'm genuinely curious about this "biodegradable leather" trend in golf. Are we talking snake oil here? I mean, golf balls, clubs... they all end up in the water eventually. Is this just greenwashing, or is there actually a real environmental benefit? And honestly, does it even perform as well as traditional leather? I don't want to sacrifice distance for the planet, you know? Anyone with real-world experience with these eco-friendly golf goods? Spill the tea!
