What golf ball do you play, and how do you mark it? I play a Taylormade TP Penta, and put a black line on it.

i'd be interested to hear/read about some blind golf ball tests to see if diehard pro v fans can tell if they are blindly playing a z-star or even something cheaper. and if someone playing a penta will notice that the pro v they're playing blind is missing 2 whole layers.

Actually, I've heard of one of those blind test stories, where they let people hit Top Flights, and they performed equal or better than their Pro Vs. Dunno if this is true.

I mark my Nike tour by covering 1 side of the logo in blue and then putting a pink line aross the part of the ball that says (one tour)

I did a blind golf ball test not that along ago. 4 golf balls Titleist NXT tour, Pro V1, Nike tour and Nike tour D. I got all of them right except for the Nike tour and the Pro V1. That is when I changed ball to the nike.

I have never done a blind test, but I can definitely tell the difference between a hard and a soft ball. I use the Callaway Diablo Edges but have also played with Pro V1's (I know....from one extreme to the other). The Edges are a much softer ball and feel totally different coming off the club face (especially the driver). They also have less spin and can definitely see the difference there on backspin.

Pro V1x for me. Used to mark my ball with two blue dots one on either side of the number. But I am so tired of guys that will pick up a new Pro V even if it is not in their fairway like they are the only ones playing the course that I started to write "drop it loser" on both sides of the ball...

I play Noodles Easy Distance. Since it's a relatively new ball and I'm the only member of my club that plays it, I don't mark it although I might have to eventually.

Lately I've been playing the Nike One Vapor. I've been trying a lot of different balls lately, trying to find one that "fits" my game. I like the Vapor. It seems like a straight ball, feels good off of irons and driver, greenside spin isn't the best, they seem to be pretty long, and (most importantly for me lately) I love the feel of them off the putter.

I don't know why I mark, since I rarely come across other Nike One Vapor balls...... but I mark mine with two black Sharpie dots and one red Sharpie dots above the swosh.

What I Play:

Driver: R9 460
4 Wood: G15

Hy: Callaway FT 3Hy

Irons: AP1 4-PW

Wedges: Vokey 52* & 60*, Mizuno MP-T 10 58*

Putter: Newport Studio Select 2.7

Ball: Nike One Vapor

    • Terry - what a story…I’m about 12 yrs your junior but I do have friends in similar places of life. Like others have said - “go for it”.  The fact that you’re willing to challenge yourself in the midst of dealing with something like Parkinson’s is hero level stuff….looking forward to seeing how this great adventure plays out and make sure to get some of it on video as well.  Make them memories dude!
    • Played nine today. Just went out trying to make a swing that had the feels of what I am working on. I would give it a C- at best. The best swing came on the 9th hole, 220 yard par 3, downwind. I finally made a swing where I felt the pause, and the arms down stuff like I practice. I hit the 4 iron about 215 yards, it rolled just off the back of the green about 20-Ft from the pin.  I might play 10 yards shorter on every iron shot, and make that pause swing, cause I can still hit it about 90-95% the distance.  Distance wedges or 3/4 wedges are going to different. Shanked two of them today trying the pause, arms down stuff. Might spend a bit of time looking at the video on those shots specifically.
    • Day 350: good practice session today. Hit about 25 balls, working slowly on my priority piece. It looks decent in slow motion. Better at full speed but not quite there. Then putted for about an hour. Focused on putts inside 10’ but also did a stack putting session.
    • Two of my golfing Buddie's are left handed. I will play a couple of rounds and use their clubs and see how I do.  Played last Thursday and had the worst game ever. (Playing in really strong winds. (SW @ 20 to 30 mph with > gusts.)  Will let everyone know when I get back out. May not play until Monday.   Thanks everyone, for your encouragement.    Terry
