I love playing alone.
I love playing with people I know.
I love playing with most people I don't know.
I guess I just love playing.
But there is one real drawback to playing alone, and that is not having a witness for a great shot. We have a hole-in-one club at our course and it usually pays $500 or so for an ace. (Everyone in the club has to pay $2). Many times I've hit a great shot on a par 3 and said out loud, "Don't go in," because I know I couldn't claim it as an ace.

Haven't played solo yet but after reading some posts here, I may start to when I have the chance.

I have a lot of golfing buddies and enjoy playing with them. But about once or twice a month I'll play by myself. I enjoy that too and don't mind getting held up by groups. Gives me time to practice putting, chipping and such. Often they offer to let you play through but I seldom take them up on the offer. You have to enjoy your own company when you play alone and not everyone seems to like it. But give it a try sometime, you might be surprised.
