Leaving lob shots short ?

I had a 60* wedge, but found it difficult to hit it consistently.... I got a 58* now and hitting it a lot more consistent.

First I have to admit that I am not using it often and when circumstances force me to use it, I mostly leave it short, it lands on the green, but then it hops and stops.

Of course that is what it has to do, but leaving me with a longgg putt and a possible bogey or worse.

I am actually mostly a bit afraid to hit it harder, because if I thin it, the ball will fly 30 yds. or even worse over the bunker and into real trouble.

Any advise on how to attack the pin with a lob (58*) wedge ?!?!?!???

Here's my advice, don't use the 58* unless you have to, use your sand wedge. It's MUCH easier to hit cleanly, and you can take a shorter swing with it, therefore increasing your accuracy.

Practice with it until you figure out how to hit it hard and not hit it thin. If you do it right, you can swing as hard as you want and the ball won't go anywhere but up.

Several years ago I was at a course with a big group. I had the last tee time, but didn't know until I was already warmed up. This course had a chipping green near the range with 100's of range balls. I took my LW down there and hit nothing but flop shots for almost an hour. I've had very few problems since. After a while you just figure it out. The biggest thing is to trust what you are doing so you can swing as hard as you need to without worrying about a mishit.
