3h,4h,5-LW, Putter = 11 clubs. And I could easily do without the SW (it's an oldie from a walmart set). Shot my best round of 88 yesterday using these clubs. So I think it would do a lot of us some good to play 10 clubs or less.

Expanding on my previous post, I could easily drop every other iron and two of my wedges and not be out too much. I rarely use my 3W, and it's erratic enough that it doesn't help my scores yet. So I could be content with driver, 4I, 6i, 8I, PW, 56, and my putter. In a pinch I could probably trade in the 6 and 8 irons for the 7I and still score about as well as I do. Of course, when you score as badly as I do, that's not saying much..

In the bag:
FT-iQ 10° driver, FT 21° neutral 3H
T-Zoid Forged 15° 3W, MX-23 4-PW
Harmonized 52° GW, Tom Watson 56° SW, X-Forged Vintage 60° LW
White Hot XG #1 Putter, 33"

Turning this post on its head could I play better with 14 clubs instead of 11.

Yes. I need a set of wedges and I can see uses for them around the green. I'm probably missing a 2 iron as well to fill in a distance gap as I'm not the longest hitting 3i 190, 3w 215 often leaves a bit of a problem.

The extra clubs are probably worth a shot to me as I am left playing certain shots around the green poorly for want of the right equipment.

Some of the other responses to this thread reflect a lack of imagination about where they could use the clubs they often leave sitting. I'm an amateur myself but it is surely an amateur mentality to not see the use for all your tools. Unless you feel unable to use certain clubs- that is a different matter.

For one thing every club in your bag outside your putter represents a different distance and therefore every club should be used at one time or another. Around the green anything from 4i up could be used depending on the required shot and your creativitity.

You could get round the course with a 1/2 set or with missing clubs but it would cost strokes.

I'd play the same... Only use 11 clubs plus a putter.

And hell, I've par'd a hole just playing with a driver, too!
