I am looking to start keeping track of several stats like up and down %, greens per reg, 3 putts, etc etc...

As I think about this its a lot to keep track of while out on the course, so I was wondering if anyone has a good method of keeping track of all this. I know there are devices out there that you can keep track of score, and strokes by just hitting a key, but is there a more advanced one that keeps track of all the others?

I just write it all down on the scorecard. Doesnt take but 3 more seconds per hole.

Here's how I do it:

Key:
F=Fairway
f=1st cut
G=Green
g=fringe
D= Drop
d=duff/mishit
↕=up & down (underneath putt #)
s=sand save (underneath putt #)
#=putts (sometimes I put the distance underneath)

Even par through 9 is my best.  I don't even want to think about what was my worst.

The manual that comes with Scorecard tells you how. Whether you use Scorecard or not (you should, because you want to keep stats longer than "during the round"), the method I've come up with works really well.

There are other blackberry/phone apps that are not only cheap/free but can also record most/all of those stats and allow you to view them on their website online.

I've tried keeping track with a couple different iPhone apps and on my SkyCaddie but have ultimately found it WAY easier to just enter it in on the scorecard.

I should also note that I haven't had much time out on the course, so I haven't given any of the apps a true test. Just saying what I've seen. ;)

I made my own scorecard in excel(generic and for my homecourse) where i can track most of the interesting stuff, then when im back home i enter the stuff in an online db for stats.

The more stuff i noted down on any given clubs scorecard, the messiness soon became a fact, so i decided to just make my own :)

I personally like the Scorecard app pretty well, I find it a lot faster than mucking around with a pencil. It's much easier to fill out while riding in a cart or walking to the next tee box. Also it is one less sharp object in my pocket that I risk stabbing myself with when I reach for my ball marker.

I only wish it would let me track tee club and driving distance, then it'd be everything I could ask for. As it is, I usually remember these at the end of the round, but it'd be nice to have those in the software for posterity.

In the bag:
FT-iQ 10° driver, FT 21° neutral 3H
T-Zoid Forged 15° 3W, MX-23 4-PW
Harmonized 52° GW, Tom Watson 56° SW, X-Forged Vintage 60° LW

I agree with that. I would like driving distance and approach club. The latter would be especially cool because you could track proximity to the hole and GIR with all different clubs, which I think could be extremely helpful.

I just use the paper scorecards that are available at courses. The top box I put my score, then underneath that I do fairways (a check for hit, an arrow pointing L/R for miss), under that I do greens (same markings as for fairways), and last I do putting (the big number for amount of putts, and a small number in the top right corner for first putt distance). I think this is the way that the Scorecard manual advised, but I'm not positive. It just works best for me. I have the app on my iPod Touch, but I don't usually carry that with me and I keep the screen lock on which would make entering scores every hole annoying.

i just do it with the card while on the course.

Score
DIF: ^, L, or R
#putts

Everything else, my stat keeper figures automatically.

I also jot down anything out of the ordinary on a particular hole if something happened and also my par 3 club choices.
