Whats up ST!?

Going on a little family vacation to MB on the dates above. I would like to play about 3 times... dont care where!

I dont want to pay a ton, simply because I am not good enough to pay $100 per round.

I will consistently shoot in the low 90s or so... So if anyone is going to be in the area or is looking for another single player, just let me know!!

I played only once when I was down there. Wish it was more but...the beach was just so dam nice:) I played the myrtlewood palmetto. It was 44 bucks for 18 with cart. The course was really nice. The only gripe I had was they had to come out atleast 40 times to tell us to hurry along. We had a 4some ahead of us for the front nine, and no one trailing us. The back nine we were just out playing, not rushing as there was a full hole behind us clear. The 14th had a guy there asking for some money for a kids house and his story was 20 minutes long. We had the guys behind us catch us there and we let them play through and told the ranger that next time by. Just cant see why they wanted us back so bad when we were obviously not holding course play up.

Great courses for around a 90 shooter, which is where I shoot at, and these were the most enjoyable for me:

Wild Wing Avocet
Waterway Hills
Myrtle Beach National-King's North

You can get great prices to these three, and they are all enjoyable courses for a high handicapper. TPC Myrtle Beach is also enjoyable, but they had just sanded the greens last time I was there, so it wasn't as fun as the others. The "critters" on TPC make the round. I saw about a million huge squirrels that were brightly colored, who would stand and watch you take your shots, and try to steal snacks out of your cart. Pretty funny stuff. There were also 2 alligators on the course, one of which kind of surprised me on the tee box. My buddy said "Watch out for that Gator!!!!", I thought he was messing with me, so I went ahead and took my shot, just to turn around and see about a 6ft alligator coming out of the pond next to me. Funny stuff.

I saw the "On the green" charity guys at 6 out of 8 courses I played that week, and we won quite a few sleeves of balls.

Glen Dornoch is a really nice unique course at the beach. It's a links course. Not too hard, but challenging and has several very memorable holes. It's a cant miss

If you like a challenge and incredible scenery, try caledonia or true blue. They are both in Pawleys Island. 20 min. drive down seventeen south of Myrtle beach. They are the best two courses at the beach if you ask me.

I'll be in Myrtle that same week. 10th trip down there with my buddies. I've only seen the ocean once in 10 years. We'll play 7 rounds in five days. More of an endurance challenge than a golf challenge. I can give a great review of Thee Doll House, but since you'll be with the family....

I played Wild Wing Avocet the week of July 18th. It was in great condition. It's a fun layout and not tricked up or overly challenging.

Take a look at Carolina National and Rivers Edge if you are willing to drive 40 minutes or so. I have played at Carolina National a few times recently because their $25 twilight rate at 3 o'clock is too good of a deal to pass on. The course is a 27 hole layout, with Heron and Ibis being my favorites. Tons of great views with fun and challenging holes. I have seen a good bit of wildlife while on the course and the first par 3 on Heron is spectacular! The summer heat has a couple of the greens in so so shape but I would still recommend. Good Luck and hit em well!!

    • ..maybe 1 shot HC change might be a good starting point..
    • Yeah, I have a similar view. I was in the team of 2 and we got down 5 after 5. Get 1 pt if win the hole - whatever that game is called. We lost it 3 down with 2 to play so almost saved it. After the first hole when the single did a putt, then dropped a second ball, made a slight adjustment and sunk it, we thought it wasn't right. We couldn't do anything with handicaps etc so we just made them wait between putts - usually just one of us to putt. We were a 23 and 25 handicappers (probably playing to about 28) and the single was a 16 handicapper, but somehow had a HC of 20 (so that is 1 HC pt already). In terms of making it fair, and changing HC (HC1 + HC2 / 4), I think maybe adding 2 HCs to the double (or taking 2 HC off the single (after the adding and div by 4) might make it fair. Also maybe making a rule that the single couldn't change clubs for the second hit. Hard to say from that one game but possibly: - 2 shot HC adding - can't change clubs for second shot - need to have other team putt in between their 2 putts   Not sure. Do you think you'd still win or have these rules made it unfair the other way? Cheers for thoughts..
