Has anyone tried the new UST Frequency Filtered Putter Shaft, I was wondering if this thing actually works, for $58 it should put the ball in the hole for you. Anyways they say it improves feedback from the putter face which would be nice. I copied the link to the product page from golfsmith below.

On a side note does anyone know the shaft specs for the Odyssey 2 Ball Putters

Joe,

There's definately a different feel with the UST frequency filtered shaft. To me, it was very reminiscent of having a sound slot cut into your putter feel wise. The putter was far more "clicky" if that makes any sense?

Whether or not that feel is worth $60 is up to you.

From a clubmakers perspective, the shaft is significantly lighter than comperable shafts, especially in the butt section, so you can expect a change of about 2 swing weight points upon chaning.

For the Odyssey 2 ball, you would need the 2 plane double bend shaft I believe. Call or send the UST technical staff an e-mail and they'll be able to tell you for sure though.

Yea I figured I might give it a shot over the winter, I'd like to get into clubmaking so I figure this might be a decent project for me. Also I'd be doing it to the Center Shafted version of the 2 ball forgot to mention that, I'm waiting on Odyssey or UST to tell me which fits the putter the .355 or .370.
Thanks for the response.

I have been reading the forums for a while now...great forum and great info. I have a question about my current putter shaft and thought this would be the thread to post it. I own a Oddessy Tri-ball putter, which I really like, but have been considering shortening the shaft. It is a 35" shaft and I think I may want to go down by about an inch to an inch and a half. Would I be better off buying a new shaft and having the current one replaced, or can I have a local shop shorten the shaft. I read that trimming the shaft at the tip versus the grip end on a regular club can cause effect/performace changes, will this happen with the putter? Thanks for the help.

Matt

    • LIV golf was pretty close to me in 2023, at the same course that hosted the 2023 Senior PGA.  I didn't go to either one.  I do know a few people who went to the LIV event, and they said it was pretty well attended and pretty well run.  If I had free tickets, I might show up, but I'd probably have to drive 10 miles to park to get a shuttle to come back to within 5 miles of my house.
    • As long as "in town" means a drive of less than an hour, I'd probably go.  I've never actually been to a pro golf event, so it would be a novelty. Presumably, they'd be playing on a course that I'm not normally allowed to visit, so there would be an interest in just going to see the place. My tolerance for traffic is pretty minimal, so if massive headaches are predicted it would dampen my enthusiasm.
    • I would definitely buy tickets and go watch a round or two.
