the 17* fairway wood is what wood the 3 or 4? and which club should I drop for it do you suggest?

It is a 4 wood. I wouldn't drop any, you only have 13 clubs now.

Ping calls my 17* fairway wood a 5 but some others call it a 4. Best to look at the clubhead and see if what degree of loft, if any, is stamped on it. Otherwise, you might have to go to the manufacturer's website.

My Ping G10 4 is a 17°. Callaway has a 17° 5 wood I think....

My Ping G2 5 is also a 17*. Aside from loft, is there any difference between a 4 wood and a 5 wood or did the good folks at Karsten make some sort of marketing decision between the G2 and G5 series?

thank you for the replies everyone....I will look for a 17* wood, whether it's 4 or 5......and I will remove the 3i ...I hit that about the same distance as my 4h so I should be ok......anyone with some comments on what an easy to hit/consistant 17* wood would be?

I have never seen either one in person.

My 4 wood is a dream to hit. You just have to swing easy and let the club do the work. It is difficult with woods because of the distance you are wanting makes you think you need to swing harder.
