Anyone have a recomendation for a nice, reasonably priced course on Oahu? Didn't do my homework, and the wife has encouraged me to play (I didn't think I would be playing).

Thx

I live here. I love the golf here. I dont know out of state prices so I'm not suer which ones are the cheapest but here are some of my favorites.

West side
Coral Creek - In ewa (pronounced Evah) beach - 40 minutes from waikiki. I LOVE this course. www.coralcreekgolfhawaii.com
Ewa Prince - In ewa beach. 27 holes. http://www.princeresortshawaii.com/w...-oahu-golf.php
Royal Kunia in ewa beach. www.royalkuniacc.com
Beat up municipal but fun - Hawaii Country Club - In ewa.

East side
Olomana - in waimanalo. 30 minutes from Waikiki. Our "go to" course. www.olomanagolflinks.com
Luana hills.. Everyone else loves it. I dont. 2 of my friends hate it too but.. www.luanahills.com
HArdest on the island and at one time hardest in the country - Ko Olau. Most gorgeous too I think. www.koolaugolfclub.com
beat up BUSY municipal - Pali golf course - Pretty close to waikiki.

North shore
Turtle bay - palmer and fazio courses. $$$$
Beat up 9 hole muni - Kahuku. Some of the best views on the island though

Closest GOOD course to Waikiki i think is Hawaii Kai. they have a championship course (SONY open) and a fun executive course.

A lot of it depends on where youre staying and MAYBE if you play with a local you can get them to pay for you and maybe slide on as a local. I've never paid more than $40 for a round :). Never tried it but Im sure its possible at some courses some days.

Depends on where youre staying and how youre gonna get there as well. Ewa prince has a free shuttle. Coral creek may too if you call and ask.

If you need more advice PM me or for faster response email me jaevee@gmail.com

P.S. Avoid the Ala Wai course in Waikiki. Rated the busiest in the country year after year. Short, flat with nowhere to lose a ball but Glacial rate of play from what I hear. Noone I know well has ever bothered to play there.

Aloha!

^ ditto on avoid Ala Wai, unless you really hate yourself.

Played Olomana a while back - enjoyed it.

Recently played a couple of CC's - nice if you can get on. Lots of golf on the Big Island if you are going there...

Have fun!!!

We played both the Palmer and Fazio course at Turtle Bay, along with Ko'Olau last October. We really enjoyed Ko'Olau, although none of us scored very well (lots of forced carries over ravines off the tee, blind shots, etc.) But the view was A+. Turtle Bay is really good, for some reason the 3 of us enjoyed the Fazio course a bit more than the Palmer though. If you can play Hawaii Kai, do so. I've wanted to play there so bad - it's tops on my list for our next trip. Enjoy the vacation!

Love golfing in Hawaii! :)

Ditto on Ko'olau! Loved that course but rated as one of the toughest courses in the USA.
I've also golfed at Luana Hills, Coral Creek, Waikele, Kahuku Muni, Mililani, and military Leilehua GC and Barber's Pt. On Maui the Waiehu muni.

Next time I get back home I wanna golf at Turtle Bay, Olomana and Hawaii Kai courses. Not sure about The Pearl...

Have fun in Hawaii and can't wait to read about your trip! :)

Played Ko'olau twice on business trips to Hawaii (nearly 10 years ago) with my boss. I probably had a 15 handicap then. We stopped keeping score pretty quickly and just drank and enjoyed the course and views. We lost a lot of golf balls, I know that.
