Drive help

Need thoughts on how to get myself to quit trying to kill my drive.
I try and try to go slow and swing smooth ,but it never fails, once I start down the boosters kick in and it powers thru the ball and the ball takes it's usual fade flight.
I've tried to do a count as I swing but that doesn't work for me.
Any other ideas to slow me down?

Oh yeah that is kinda strong sounds like your swing path might be off, have you tried posting a video before?

You could be tightening your grip pressure and preventng the club from turning over and closing properly. keep a loose grip and try to swing slowly not for distance but just to see if you can hit a driver with a slow motion swing, just for fun and once you accompolish this you can slowly speed up the swing to 80%.
along with grip pressure make sure that your basics on correct with your set up and the path of your backswing.

as ks said.. grip pressure might be too tight.
i am a believer and user of the "holding-a-bird" theory. That is, the grip should be light enough to where if you were holding a bird in your hand, u wouldnt kill it--a tight grip can definitely hinder the release of the club. also, go to the range and try swinging 20% the whole way through the swing.. literally. swing as slowly as you can; that is what i do when my driver is not behaving; i focus on tempo in order to restore my timing. i also find that when i am swinging slowly, i dont really lose distance. good luck.

Thanks, never thought about grip pressure. Will be playing today and I'll focus on that to see.
