I have victory 60 and 52 and callaway x 56 wedges and the faces are beat up from just everyday use and banging around in my bag. How often should i change my wedges and what are good wedges that last awhile?

It really depends on how often you use your wedges whether that be on the course our at the range. Any forged club is going to have a few nicks here and there and if that is all it is I wouldn't really worry about it. Just make sure that your grooves are still in good shape and you should be fine...

Vokeys are pretty darn good.. Go check a couple of other different wedges though, Cleveland also, and make sure to compare the weight while swinging them or just make a few waggles with them and see how they look when you are about to strike a ball.

All three wedges you describe are decent brands and models. I wouldn't worry about switching unless:
* You are losing out on backspin due to severely worn grooves; or...
* You are damaging balls on square hits due to nicks and burrs on the face; or...
* Vokey or Cleveland offers to sponsor you

Otherwise, continue to intimidate playing partners with the look of those veteran wedges.

I love my 64* and 68* wedges from Pinemeadow. They are cheap too. I also like the 73* wedge from Feel.

    • Gotta hand it to Burns and Spaun..keeping their cool and avoiding the big number. Adam Scott! Blast from the past, good for him.

    • I imagine there might be a fine, that's what the PGA Tour does for bad behavior.  Not sure if the USGA has any kind of Code of Conduct that would address this.
    • I've used this for planning, good information about courses, regions, transport, and lodging. Amazon.com  I prefer to stay in B&Bs, and have enjoyed playing many non-famous courses.  Hiring a car for many weeks is likely to be pretty expensive, but train travel is possible between regions.  I don't know about taxis for getting to courses, but that might be cheaper than hiring a car.  I certainly recommend staying in St Andrews for a while, there are 6 courses within the St Andrews Trust, and a shuttle will take you from one to the other, not including the Castle Course.  Beyond that, there are a dozen or more good courses within an hours drive, including Carnoustie and Kingsbarns and a bunch of lesser-known but fabulous courses.   Good luck, Scotland is a fabulous place!
    • I am looking to do a solo trip to Scotland, maybe 3 to 4 weeks, not golf every day but see some of the country in between. Looking more for convenience of travel to courses  than any particular courses. Any help on  best location, courses, accommodations appreciated.
