Went out and played a quick 9 before work this morning and shot a +4, 40.

Stats from the round

5/7 fairways
2/9 gir
14 putts
3/7 up and downs

I have spent a lot of time this year working on my driver swing. It has paid off as I have gained distance and become very accurate. In that process however, I have lost accuracy with my irons.

My longer irons are all hooking with the occasional manageable draw. My mid irons and short irons are generally straight sometimes with a slight 2-3 yard draw. So the contact is fine with them, but I am having trouble with alignment. It seems as though I am always 5 yards left or right of the green. Are there any drills that help with aim, other then just more practice?

If you are sure your body is in alignment at setup (just guessing here but it sounds as though it is but without seeing actual swings..dunno) then about the only thing you can do while playing a round is to stand behind your ball...find your desired target and then pick a spot about 3 feet in front of your ball on that line that you can line yourself up with.

If you're out playin for fun, then don't hesitate to lay a club on the ground on your target line and use it to help you get the feel of proper aim. Cheating by the rules though, so I wouldn't count the score for handicap purposes if you keep an official one.

My philosophy on golf "We're not doing rocket science, here."

Is your driver ball flight a slight draw? If so, try opening the club face a bit more at address with your long irons. You may have a nice in to out swing path. Opening the face on long iron will then give you a high draw. it will start right and draw back to target.

My driver is either a slight draw or dead straight. I will try opening the face a little bit and see what happens
