This past weekend, I had a chance to play a few holes with the Cleveland DST Tour driver...i must say WOW what a great driver.

I usually dismiss Cleveland for some reason other than their wedges but my friend recently got a great deal on this driver and he offered to let me play with it as well.

I like more traditional shaped driver heads and deeper face drivers...that plus this driver head being roughly 430cc (i think) It just felt and looked great at address.

I just got my Callaway FT Tour driver and am in love with it but definitely took a gulp at the price when I purchased it.

At the price the Cleveland DST Tour is at, I'd say it definitely is a GREAT driver to contend with the FT Tour, at a much cheaper price.

The DST is a lightweight driver, correct?

What were your impressions of the shaft, feel of club, distance, etc?

Yeah. The shaft that he had on it was the Diamana whiteboard, x-stiff, which I definitely enjoyed hitting. Great shaft, numbers wise, seem pretty similar to the Voodoo that I'm hitting. Only thing I noticed was that I was pushing my drives a bit with the cleveland, could've been my swing...but was quickly corrected after a couple holes.

Feel of the club, for it being lightweight, i was able to control the driver pretty well. I personally like a little feel at impact, the driver sounded nice and crisp, none of that car crash thud from the Cleveland Monster I've hit before. Definitely say its a player's club. For those looking for control with their driver and want to shape shots, this is definitely a good club for it for the price. Distance wise, it wasn't astounding, I'd say similar to my FT Tour. There were two holes at the course that were very short par 4, used to be 330 or so, but the tee box was being repaired so the drive was just 280 with a very slight decline. I hit my FT Tour and got in on the green. The very next hole is similar but roughly 320 yards, fairways pretty wide open and a bit of decline so hit the Cleveland on this hole and I'd say it was roughly 280-290 drive. Definitely enjoyed playing with this driver. Especially at the price, he got it for $200.

You're right. I havent really looked up the driver but I guess its not really much of a light weight driver for the Tour, it's pretty standard i'd say.

Regardless, great driver overall.

Good point-I tried out the one with the superlight shaft. I'd like to hit one with a WB in it.

just out of curiosity, does anybody know how different the shafts are - such as WB from "designed for" shafts to the actual Diamana WB shafts?

Usually different specs in the shaft, they are still good quility shafts, just not as good as the real thing 99% of the time. But if the stock shafts fits you why change it?

In my Old 07 Burner TP I played the stock shaft and in my Sumo 5000 I played the stock shaft because they both worked for me.

Tell me about it :)

After reshafting my driver with the Motore, I think it'll stay in the bag for quite some time now.

welllllll alittle update. I returned my Callaway FT Tour for store credit and went with the Cleveland DST Tour 9.5 with WB X-Stiff. :)

After thoroughly trying out and comparing both drivers, both incredible heads...came down to difference in shaft. WB Xstiff had a more boring low spin flight. Also doesn't hurt that I got the Cleveland DST Tour for $180 as opposed to the FT Tour being $400...

Cleveland makes quality drivers, i am still playing with a 2006 Launcher 460 driver. Just wonder if anyone plays or tests the new 2010Launcher DST 9* driver with ULTRALITE DIAMANA RED 44 SHAFT? Our local Roger Dunn will have 20% off for almost everything in upcoming Labor Day weekend. I might pick that one for $199 before 20% off.

    • So, Brendan Sorsby, Texas Tech transfer QB, was found guilty of sports betting by the NCAA. He admitted to it. He placed thousands of bets over multiple years while at Indiana and Cincinnati. This included betting on his own teams.  The NCAA rules ban athletes from betting on any sport (college or pro).  A retired visiting judge from Tarrant County, Texas has put an injunction on the NCAA ruling. He is a visiting judge because the first judge was a graduate and big fan of Texas Tech, and he recused himself. The judged ruled the following... "Under Curry's order, Sorsby is permitted to play for Texas Tech's 2026 season on the condition that he continues his treatment for a gambling and anxiety disorder and serves a two-game suspension (missing games against Abilene Christian and Oregon State)."  Don't get me wrong, I don't particularly care for the NCAA. That still doesn't mean that a college can choose when or where to say, "Yea we agree to these rules for all our sports, well except in this case." Here is a breakdown from S&W. The Hidden Weapon in Sorsby’s Injunction: How a Lubbock County Court Order Quietly Neutralized the NCAA’s Most Powerful Enforcement Tool - Law Offices of Snell & Wilmer By Ryan J. Regula On June 8, 2026, Lubbock County District Court Judge Ken Curry issued a temporary injunction in Brendan Sorsby v. National Collegiate Athletic Association, Cause No. DC-2026-CV-0791 (99th Judicial District... The main judgement made sense. Sorsby, I am going to have all this harm done to me if I don't get to play. The Judge, I agree. The penalty for gambling is too harsh, so here are all these things you must do, and I will grant this injunction against the NCAA. Basically, an analogy would be when a person goes into court for a DUI and they agree to all these other things to not end up in jail.  What sucks for the NCAA is the NCAA has appealed to Texas’ Seventh Court of Appeals, based in Amarillo. All four justices that preside over the court are graduates of Texas Tech University School of Law. It would be hilarious if all four of them had to recuse themselves 🤣. For those who like to read legal rulings...
    • The chatter in my brain is when the distance is between clubs since I am pretty weak at shortened backswings, etc. I try to simply decide if being long or short is the better outcome and choose my club based on that and simply not even try for the “real” distance.  For me a full normal swing is what I strive for.
    • I saw this comment made in a golf article... "Most golfers stand over a 4- or 5-iron still negotiating with themselves. They think about how hard to swing, whether they have the right club, if they have the aim correct and more. It’s a lot to deal with and long irons punish the “half-in” golf swing." I am not sure the "most golfers" is correct regarding the bolded part. I can understand if there is a bunker, water, and/or OB that a lot of golfers would be fixated on that. I am not sure that leads to ending up more times there. Pending your level in golf, the variance is so large in outcomes, it could be just with in the expected outcomes. I can understand if have a big lake on the right side of the hole being one of the most terrifying shots for right-handed amateur golfers.  I am not sure many golfers are standing over the ball talking to themselves, "Ok, maybe I should step back and pull the 4-iron. Am I lined up right? Oh, the wind came up, should I swing harder? What am I going to have for dinner tonight, maybe steak. (Joking, somewhat 😛)" A question is that how much chatter do you get while standing over the ball. Are you questioning the everything about your golf shot?
