Alright, I have been trying to figure this out for the last few days and am stuck. I am hitting down on the ball (imo) perfectly right now with good healthy divots and getting the ball to stop on a dot or check back when it hits the green. However the trajectory is really low. I was always told that it was supposed to be higher when hitting down on the ball. I think this is linked to why I can't hit my 5-3 irons anymore (low hook, I think I am just making terrible contact with the ball, but I think this swing I've recently adapted to is making me do this.) I've recently made my plane a little more vertical (it was too flat before) with a wide shoulder turn. Can any one help me out and tell me why its doing that? I have always prided myself in my iron game and this is very disheartening.

This single thought has helped me immensely the past 2 (soon to be) seasons. I always tried to smack the ball into the ground until I read someones post about it only being a sensation of hitting down on the ball and not physically trying to drive it into the ground. I may have turned into a bit of a picker/scooper, but yeah, I attribute this tip to cutting my HC in half over the last 1 3/4 seasons, and have no fear of pulling out the three iron whenever I feel it necessary.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not TRYING to hit down, it just happens. My game inside 160 right now is fantastic other than the lower ball flight. I steepened my plane recently on my shorter clubs -7-lw but I think I carried the steeper plane into the longer irons too and that may be why thats happening, but I really have no idea.i

come in shallower, not flatter. when you're hitting long irons you can't afford for your hands to be too far ahead of the ball cause that will cause a duck hook. so, use the same swing you use with your driver. let the club pass your body on the forward swing and keep your head back.

haha Driver is a whole different animal, I am duck hooking that thing like crazy too. Ill have 1 day on with it (where I can crank out literal 300-310 yard drives with a slight draw,) for every 2 or 3 days snap hooking it. It is very frustrating. So I probably don't even know how to hit the driver.
