Would 50* wedge be a good addition?

jesus 125 with 60*... i never use my 60* wedge for full shots, but I'd imagine it would be somewhere like 70 yards max.

my stock 125 yard shot is a choked down PW, or when I had my 52*, I'd punch it out there to 125. I've long put my 52* aside. I like hitting a soft PW.

If you go with a 50*, I'd probably drop the 52*, they are just too close to one another. If you do add a wedge instead of replace, you could go with something like a 48*.

Well, made the decision today to go with a 50* and gave the 52* to a friend. In the winter I think I will get me a 55* and get the 60* out of the bag and just roll with the 45-50-55 for wedges. I was at the range yesterday for my short irons-wedges practice time and realized how little I really use (or need) the 60*. Thanks for all the replies and thoughts!

Nevermind: just looked and there is no 55* Vokey? Hmmm, guess I'll just roll with a 50-56.

Try the 50, you'll like it. My PW is 45* and is really like a 9 iron. So I went with 50, 54 and 58 with no regrets. I use all of them and my scoring has improved immensely. the 50 and 58 are 8* bounce and good for tighter lies on fairways. My 50 is my 100 yard club that will stop dead on the green. I use the 54-11 for chipping and sand. 58 is great for flop shots and chipping where higher loft is needed.

It is best to experiment and come up with shots that you are comfortable with. As we get better, we may switch back to just 2 extra wedges, but the fun is in trying different combinations.

Yeah, I think I'll enjoy the 50*. I played a practice round today and played to get many of my approach shots from 115-120 and using my 52* I just couldn't get it there. I used my PW on a couple of the shots and did ok with a punch shot (the greens were very small on this par 68 course).

I love chipping with my 56*. Didn't even pull my 60* out of the bag today.

      Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.

      I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.

      I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
