Why did it take Tiger 2 years to fully implement a swing change?

It's been said that he's changed his swing twice, and that it took two years before it was fully implemented.

From looking at videos, his swing hasn't changed dramatically, and for someone practicing as much as him, why does it take two years to change it?

My own pet theory (I didn't really spend a lot of time six years ago looking into the causes and changes - it was six years ago after all for the most recent one): the old swings relied so much on timing that it took that long to get them down for the various types of shots.

yea he said it took him 2 years with butch to get the swing down, then the swing change with haney took a year, according to him. He wasnt sure if it would be less than a year for this swing change but that its definitly a commitment.

Also Nick Faldo made a swing change in the past years and that took 2 years as well. Slow learner...?
