You wont notice that much of a difference between the two. I know I dont, my performance is exactly the same with either one. One thing that is better is the stock redwood grip, that thing is awesome, its got a sweet curve on the back and has a perfect texture for feel. Its definitly a pro caliber grip. the stock karsten grip sucks bad, thats why I switched it out on the putter you have. I would look into the redwood grip if I were you

In all seriousness, what makes a high end putter? Marketing or Brand name behind it? Materials used?

Lighter putter? or heavier putter? or are these just fads of based on what golf digest tells us?

Apparently you will immediately notice the "higher quality feel", and the ball will bounce "consistenly" off the face. No longer will you have to deal with myriad gremlin-like pockets of "hot spots" on the face of your putter.

I'm in no way judging anyone, but why spend an arm and a leg on a putter? I have been using my Bullseye putt putt golf style putter for 17 years. I hit some of the spaceship looking putters in the store the other day and I don't get it. Putting is the one stroke that is 99.999% player and .001% gear. Clue me in on what I am missing because I can't get my mind around dropping hundreds on a putter. Sorry if I went off topic.

As funny as it is... take it easy on mottler. It's way more fun to get sucked into club lust and ideal thinking that it is to realize how terrible my ball striking and putting stroke actually are.

Plus, this kind of 'catch and release' within the used equipment market just drives down prices for the rest of us. Hooray!

Finally got the redwood anser in the mail. First impressions are that the feel is softer when hitting the ball compared to the cast ones and a little more consistant. Sometimes

I read that in studies about cast vs. solid milled or forged putters and it makes sense. Im not saying I could feel hot spots with the karsten but I did have a more solid feel with the redwood. Im kinda of analytical/scientific in my approach to things because it was a big part of my studies in college

I don't think reading something, then stating it as a fact about your experience, when in your own words you "couldn't feel hot spots" qualifies as either an analytical or scientific approach.

yea it does. When reading scientific studies you take those results and use them (if you want) no matter if you did the experiement yourself or not. Plus it makes sense. Like I said the redwood does have a more consistent solid feel to me so I dont really know what your talking about.
