Im for the USA.... but I am in a pool at the local course. I have Team Europe for the win . For fewest points .....I have Oglivy. For most points ...... I have Rory.

Pretty wild pick with Rory, but I think he will be up for this Ryder Cup.

A few months ago I would have said Europe practically had it in the bag. But they've had a few setbacks since then and it's nowhere near as clearcut now. Harrington's form is a worry, as is Lee Westwood's injury. Ian Poulter has done literally nothing since he won the matchplay, he's been fighting to make the cut in most tournaments since then. Similar story with Graeme McDowell. Peter Hanson is a bit of an unknown quantity, who knows how he'll react to his first Ryder Cup experience.

Of course, form is very temporary in Golf and may have no bearing at the RC at all, but I'd be more confident in McIlroy, Donald, Jiminez, Kaymer and the Molinari brothers to get some points on the board, early on at least.

I don't know where the perception that the European team is much stronger than the U.S. came from. I think they're pretty evenly matched, personally. The U.S. have a somewhat young team but when you look at what some of those youngsters have done in the past year and it's clear they're ready.

TigerSpuds....... I dont think the Euro's are stronger either. But I think they will play a little looser. .... Darren will keep em loose.

My prediction is that the Darren will lock & cha in Montey up in a isolated room with a 10 lb. cheesecake to occupy himself while the matches are carried out. :)

I always pull for the USA, but am thoroughly disappointed in Cpt. Pavin's picks.

Tiger woods is just now showing signs of life but doesn't have a single win all season. Same for Cink. Can't believe that J.B Holmes was passed by...

I think Europe will win and the point totals will show that Tiger and Cink were actually bad picks.... We'll see.

Regarding Tiger...bear in mind the type of style of play for the Ryder Cup doesn't quite compare to regular stroke play, so just because Tiger hasn't posted 4 solid rounds in a tournament doesn't mean he couldn't smoke the competition in the team competition or even singles.

Tiger's ball striking the last few tournaments has been superb..its his putter that has not been hot. His proximity to the holes has been staggering compared to the field in the last handful of tournaments, and given he has been #1 for 5 million weeks, 14 majors, etc... regardless of how he has played for most of 2010 still means he is a force to be reckoned with. He might very well have the most successful record at the Ryder cup this year, but he is worthy of being on the team.

Agree. Wonder if I can find someone to take a £100 bet at 10/1 from me that Ogilvy won't get a point. Could do with a bit of moolah, what with Christmas coming and all that.

My thoughts, too. I would not say, one or the other team is stronger. But they play in Wales, so that tips the balance towards Team Europe.

I agree with that.

Pavin and Monty don't exactly come across as motivational titans, but motivation and psychology are such a big part of this event. So I'll go with home advantage tipping the balance in favor of the Euros.

I don't really understand this attitude to Monty. He has been 'Mr Ryder Cup' on the European side for two decades - he gets really into it and his passion has been a factor in the European performance. I expect to see it again at Celtic Manor (10 days and counting!!)

After watching the Tour Championships Leaderboard right now - 7 out of 12 are currently in the lower half - 2 didnt even qualify, that leaves Jim Furyk, Hunter Mahan and Phil Mickelson - I think i go with Harringtons closing round of 64 (seems he got into shape right in time) and the other guys who are on his team . Too bad the odds for Europe suck, they didnt seem to slowroll the bookies well enough... And when i tried to place my paycheck on Geoff Ogilvy for least points, like a previous post did, they laughed at me and threw me out

Ditto. I'll even give the original guy a billion to one odds.

I'm thinking the same, but I reckon that Clark and Scott will probably be extremely lucky to score any points either. Same with Villegas

Gary Player, I'm not sure about. Anyway. just to be sure, I had Bobby Locke and Bob Charles down as zero points, so, I think I'll be OK. Pretty sure that ONE will do poorly. Still kicking myself that I didn't put Peter Thomson down as a zero pointer, 'cause I hear he's not that well. But then.....5 Open championships...you never know.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

    • Day 27 (7 Dec 25) - Got in a few swings with 9i and hard foam balls in backyard.  Setup weight fwd (rebuilt left foot really lets me feel the weight in a slightly painful way) - kept the backswing to around 9 o’clock focusing on contact and resulting divot pattern.  Like how the hard foam balls come off the face (almost like real balls in sound).  A good abbreviated session as I only able to hit about a dozen balls in the fading light.
    • Day 117 12-7 A bit of chipping practice today. Full swing- hit some real balls to see where Im at.
    • Not the part I was replying to: Handicaps did not go down much (like 0.14 on average IIRC?) when we went from 10/20*0.96 to 8/20. And a good chunk of that was from the +s.
    • I think he meant in the UK. The old system was completely different from the new one. 10/20 x 0.96 vs 8/20 would really only impact very low handicaps I think. The 0.96 serves to increase differentials for plus differentials, where 8/20 vs 10/20 works to lower differentials for all. I don't know many plus golfers who would be upset that their index got lower. A lot of really good players don't even really keep their handicaps up-to-date. They're much more interested in their WAGR rankings which get them entries to certain events.
    • Day 433 - 2025-12-07 Got some work in after Junior Elite before a night of sports (and the return of my wife!). Backswing work. Similar to what a lot of my juniors are doing.
