Just to delve into the abyss of banality, what do you think is the most beautiful iron ever made? You know--that sexy, pulchritudinous hunk of steel that makes your eyes dialate slightly and gets you making mental swings in your head, with visions of a buttery, well-struck 6-iron landing softly 4 feet from the cup?

For me, it's the Hogan Apex redline. I don't own a set, but I'd like to.

I thought the original hogan edge was just flat a handsome looking club. The way it looked just inspired confidence. A perfect example of form follows function.

Mine - the Mizuno MP60

Along the same lines - what's the most memorable iron shot you have? One time, I had 185 left to the center of the green. i was in the fairway, but the wrong side of a dogleg. There was a set of overhanging branches that i had to hit a sweeping hook around. Took a 4 iron, carved it around the tree beautifully, landed it on the surface and it released to within 2 feet of the cup. i'm sure that more experienced players have aces and hole outs that they can recall

New School? I love all of those shiny, silver clubs Mizuno puts out, that includes the MX900's.

Completely agree with Jeff. Those are beautiful...

I have to agree with Jeff also. I ended up with 695 CB's for the forgiveness but man would I love to own a set of those blades. They are gorgeous.

yeah, these titleist clubs are really nice...
however I think the most beautiful set I ever saw was the Taylor Made rac MB blades in BLACK finish. never hit the market, couple sets sold for about $1400 on ebay, can't find pictures of them anywhere. Boy were they sweet looking

I'm in the same boat, I lust after the MB's but I play the CB's which are also beautiful, they just lack the smoothness of those gorgeous MB's

It's a tie for me between:

Mizuno MP 37

Titleist 660

..neither of which I can even attempt to hit..but gorgeous nonetheless.

I'll have to say that Mizuno MP-60 is one of the most beautiful Irons I've set my eyes upon.
Too bad I probably don't play well enough use them yet...
But that's the club I really love to get my hands on when I play a bit better...
Until then I'll just drool at those pictures.....

im so sad ..... i bought the 695MB's.... cant believe i actually returned them....well they were hard to hit, but still they are so beautiful

As far as traditional blades, while I'm not a huge Titleist fan I really like the 695MB's but I give the nod to the Mizuno MP-32's

I also find a lot of game improvement irons sexy (like my Srixon I-506's) but I figure that could be another thread

I'm going to have to go with the current set I have: The Titleist 731PM's. Of course, they were only made for lefties since it was Phil Mickelson's set when he was still with Titleist; however, the whole set to just looks so clean. Before I messed up my elbow, I had some guy after a round of golf offer me 800 on the spot for my irons. I guess he knew that Titleist didn't make them anymore.

    • Par is just a guideline, a reference for a hole or a course. At the end of the tournament the player that took less strokes to hole out is the winner, no matter how much it is against the Par of the course.  35 under par is not desirable? then change a few holes par.. make all reachable par 5's as par 4's.  Every hole below 350 is a par 3.. This will make those 7200 courses play "harder" with a par of 66..67.  (Ridiculous, let's just appreciate the amazing game this players have).
    • Didn't Mike Souchak (and possibly others as I'm just going by memory, but I'm pretty sure Souchak was first) shoot a 257 years ago?  It wasn't on a par 73, so it wasn't 35 under, but still.
    • I like Golf Pad app.  I do pay a little per year for the premium version.
    • Sounds like you're trying to prune gorse.  Seems as if gorse can actually throw its needles at anyone nearby!
    • BTW - The bush was ugly.  Anyway, in an attempt to add some clarity the ball was under some of the branches of the bush. But the bush was shaped in such a way where a left handed player could have played the shot without hitting any of the branches. A right handed player would have no chance. Thus my buddy/opponent I think was "reasonable" in addressing the ball with a flipped over 7 iron as he could have hit it lefty. .... There was, however, no guarantee that he would get good results as I've actually never seen him try to hit a ball in that manor in all the years I've played with him.
