When a club gets re-shafted, does the original shaft get destroyed or cut in the process ?

I have never had a club re-shafted yet.

Just wondering, if I wanted to go back to the original or reuse or resell it ?

As long as the person doing the pull knows what they're doing, you'll be just fine reinstalling or reselling the original shaft.

I've twice had my current irons re-shafted (about to go in for a third). Each time, I asked them to save the shafts they were pulling. Good thing, too, because the second re-shafting was putting the originals back in!

(And no, the third reshafting isn't the first reshafting over again)

sometimes the graphite shafts suffer but the steel are good to go again. pro's change heads but often keep the same shafts with a new grip. I've watched new grips being installed in a professional's clubs. it reminds you of surgery. Compared to the hacks that put new tape over the top of the old tape and charge 8-12$ a grip when they should be charging half that because they are not doing any grip work. The real professional installers measure each grip and make sure that they fit the player properly

A competition amateur I know recommends a test reshafting first. He gets the 5i and 7i reshafted, and tries them out. If it's a go, he has the rest of the set reshafted. If not, he only has to get old shafts put back into two clubs.

I just did that this morning -- a few months ago, I found an old demo 6-iron for sale for like $15. I just got it reshafted today with the shaft I'm going to consider for the rest of my irons ; if I like it, I'll be re-shafting the rest (although keeping my current 6-iron as is, because why do it twice?)

Edit : The 6-iron in question is identical to the one in my set, as far as the head is concerned. The demo club had a different shaft.

If you use a modern shaft puller, there is no damage to the shaft. I bought a new one a couple years ago and I only have to use about a 3rd of the heat that I used to.

What kind did you buy? I bought one and it was a pain to use and took for ever to get one shaft out. I don't want to spend all afternoon pulling 8 shafts.

I use a Weiss-Gibson Ultimate. I paid $125.00 for it from a local guy who gave up the hobby. Not sure what he originally paid for it. I can pull a set of 8 shafts with it in about 25 minutes. Hydraulic is soooooooo much nicer than my old wrench type puller.

Here is SST's website: http://www.sstpure.com/ultimate.html

I'll 2nd the hydraulic puller, mine has paid for itself MANY times over. Epoxy has a breakdown temp and won't break down 'til it hit's that point. Different types of epoxy, different BDT's.
