Has anyone here recently changed from traditional to reverse overlap, left hand low, or something else? And have you found more success with it?

I used to go with convential, i.e. right hand below left, palms facing each other. Always considered myself a mediocre putter with litte in the way of any feel for distance.

Earlier this year, however, I started experimenting with the "claw grip." It didn't take too long either for me to feel really confident with this approach, and managed 26 putts on an outing back in June.

Lately, my putting has been off with too many missed shorts putts, but I'm sure this is an issue with my actual alignment rather than technique.

I have a strange grip which keeps my wrists from moving. I wrap and interlock all my finger together with my palms facing each other. Except for the two fingers next to the thumbs which I point straight down the shaft. ..........Well it works for me.

im a believer that putting is the only part of golf where the grip doesnt matter and you just do what feels comfortable to you

Putting is the one thing I am fairly consistent at. I use a standard right hand lower grip but I point my index finger down the shaft. I feel like it keeps my wrrist from moving.

I went to left hand low 7 or 8 years ago and found it suited me very well. Basically my left arm becomes an extension of the shaft, all I have to do is rock my shoulders and hit the ball.

I used to grip the putter the same way I gripped the rest of my clubs, recently changed to reverse overlap, I haven't noticed any real difference yet.

Recently went to left hand low myself and have been putting quite a bit better since. Think most of the improvement is due to a change in attitude rather than the change in grip, though.

last season i went to the double overlap grip. i put my finger on the space between my ring/middle fingers, instead of between the pinky/ring fingers. i helps me feel more connected to the club, and helps the wrists stay inactive

I use to putt left hand low in high school but never was a good putter and abandoned that method... Still not really a good putter though so I doubt it was the grips fault.

Last year my putting was by far the worst part of my game... I was adding easy 10+ shots to a round due to bad putting.
So I changed, like you suggest to the overlap grip (left hand lower - im right handed) and I have improved a great deal, I feel
alot more confident with long or shot puts and feel I have more control over my putting swing!

I use the Stan Utley grip. It is just awesome.

    • Day 354: shitty, busy week so far. Only had time for a bit mirror work - working on the same things.
    • IDK, a full turn. That is what it's feeling like. When I shallow the club, it ends where It ends. Should I crank the torso more around?  I'll check a face-on to make sure, but it's not like I am trying to make partial backswings.  The day has finally come, when I am getting comments on not making a long enough backswing. 🤣 too much of what?  Here is my typically routine.... 1) I usually start out just doing position work. The backswing stuff we work on. Turn to A2.5-ish, shallow to A4, pause, arms down to A6. Then, slight pump drill and hit the ball.  2) I do some pause at A4 and arms down and try to hit ball from A4 instead of A6.  3) I do some full swing stuff, trying to blend it all together. Checking video to see if I am actually keeping the club shallow or not. If not, then I go back to trying to train the downswing with the stuff we worked on. I try to blend it all together again, and check video.  What am I missing here? I do the stuff we worked on. I'll keep it at, it's all I can do. Just hope it changes.  Sorry for trying to find a feel that keeps the club shallow..
    • Ha ha.... I'm not sure.  I've actually never watched a LIV event. ... but maybe? 👍👍
