Did you see Daly hack up the 18th for an 11? He just kept hacking at a ball that was unplayable. That got me thinking about some of the big numbers I've had over the years. I can't remember taking double digits but quite a few 9's. Anybody take a HUGE number lately?

Not lately. ESC prevents me from doing that.

11 on a par 3 in the biggest state tournament. I learned something that day. Sometimes it is wise NOT to find your ball.

In my first high school tourney, I took a 10 on my first hole.

It seems like I might have taken another 10 that day, but I'm not completely sure. It was not very pretty to say the least. I had some serious nerves going.

I honestly think an 8 is the highest I have had in the last 5 years or so. I can't remember getting anything worse than that. But if I were playing the PGA courses, I'm sure I would card some 10's, or maybe more every once in awhile.

I was shocked to see Daly end up dropping. I figured he would just hack away until he was up to 20 or so.

He still got a check for $10,000 for all his efforts.

Unfortunately for JD, my highest number is not an 11.

I did have an 8 on a par 4 just last week. Before that, I can't even remember the last time I've had a quadrouple bogey...?

    • Range day working with the 6 & 7 irons.  As we have grass and it’s been beat to death, I hit off short tee pegs.  Solid session with the irons - even if there were a few wonky hosel rockets with the 7 when I did not stay in the process.  Finished the session with some work with the driver, focused on setup and tempo.
    • Day 195: did a stack session.
    • Day 27 - 40 minutes of chipping work; range was closed this morning. Worked on lofted chips with 58, bump-and-run with 7 and 9 irons.
    • Congratulations.   It sounds like a ton of work but I'm sure it is rewarding.
    • Well now the ordeal is over, and I'm back home.  If anyone is interested in doing one of these workshops, I recommend it, but its a lot of information in a short time frame.  Its been compared to taking a drink of water from a fire hose.  A lot of the "enjoyment" comes from the personalities of the instructors.  In my previous workshops, I've had one instructor who was good, and the other was exceptional.  This time, both instructors were exceptional, as was the "coordinator", who also served as instructor (his first time) for a couple of segments.  You have almost certainly heard each of the instructors on telecasts as the "rules voice", and have quite possibly seen coordinator-Jay on the USGA rules of Golf videos on Youtube and the USGA website.   A nice surprise, I got my exam results in an email earlier today.  I guess it helps that our class was held maybe 300 yards from the USGA satellite office in Pinehurst.  I'm really pleased, I improved on my past performances, and can claim the "Expert" title again.
