I am wondering how does one fix the club face. I am swinging from in to out but my clubface is too open resulting in just straight pushes. Tried swinging more in to out but that just made a bigger push. Looking at video you can see the clubface is too open. At address I have the clubface square or slightly closed. What advice would an instructor give to someone to help square their clubface a little more so I can get the push draw? I have tried pushing my hips even more forward but that hasnt helped. Thanks guys.

you mean at address? Its already slightly closed, if I close it more it looks funky and I usually dont hit the ball good. Do you think if I roll my hands over a little more down through impact that might help? Im not talking rolling my wrists over all the way even past impact but slightly before impact. or would that be a bad idea?

I've done it even with sticks. You need to check videos regularly, you'd be suprised. As Gary McCord once said, "Every pro-am I've ever played at, I've seen someone aligned improperly, and many times, that someone was me."

Here is the most recent one I have. Its the one posted in the my swing thread. I havent changed anything since really so its probably the same. Here is P2

Heres P4

Your clubface is not open going back or at the top of your backswing...However there is not as much elevation of your arms as I would prefer at the top of your backswing. I believe the lack of elevation in your arms comes from not much of a level hip/core rotation going back.Pga tour average hip turn is around 45 degrees.Of course a faceon camera angle would help diagnose this alot better.It is likely from this backswing position(arms fairly low and behind your body,without much core rotation) that your arms have a difficult time getting back down on the correct plane in the downswing without getting "stuck".You are likely to open the clubface by spinning your shoulders to early never allowing that clubface to square up.Of course it would be helpful to see a faceon camera angle and downswing pictures as well.

Aaron, I trust that you know to filter the advice you receive, and I say that knowing full well the advice that precedes this post here... specifically, your arm plane at P4 is fine, your hip and shoulder turns are good. Not great, but they're not causing any problems.

You also know enough by now to know that you've not got an open clubface at P2 or P4. Your last lesson on evolvr, I believe, included instructions to continue to go forward. You still rotate a bit too early and stall out the forward, linear component coming down and you're still a teeny bit over the top (the club kicks out a bit when your linear stalls). You'll hit little blocks to the right (Your last video in your swing thread was not a block. Bit on the toe but not a block.).

More forward, keep moving the swing center forward. If your path and face match you push - you need to move the circle forward to hit more on the back side for more of the down and out. You need to seek more of a 3D impact, and you need to enhance a bit more of all three: down, out, and forward.

P.S. Your grip could be a tad stronger, particularly the left hand. Just a little. Remember you're talking about a few degrees. Kenny Perry swings out at the ball 6 degrees and he plays one of the biggest draws on the PGA Tour. Ideally you'll be around 2-4 degrees, so you're not after a massive change here or anything... make small changes, check the effects... repeat as necessary.

yea I know good advice when I see it, no worries. I did notice in that swing it was a tiny bit over the top and not enough in to out. I must of swung more in to out on the track man thing the other day tho so I can definitly do it and I know the feeling of it. Your right about the moving forward, I often dont feel like Im doing it enough when Im swinging and have the thought "am I even moving forward,lol" video shows I do but not enough like you said. 3D impact: DOWN, OUT, and forward. You need more of the capitalized ones.

If you compared the hip positions at the top of the backswings you will see certainly Tigers right hip is higher than the left here just not as much as yours. IMO I believe shifting a little weight with your hips as you rotate would help you acheive this more level looking rotation of the hips. Also you will notice a slightly more elevated arm position as well. IMO, the SLIGHT weight shift and more level looking hip rotation would help you rotate your whole body a hair more. The elevated arm position would help the arms get down more in front of your body getting the club more from the inside.

P.S. this is an older clip of Tiger and is not what he currently looks like or is working on!(thats another topic)

thanks for your thoughts I appreciate it. I understand what you are saying and think it has some good points and would definitly help alot of people who actually prefer to shift their weight like Paul Casey or Tiger woods pre sean foley for example. I just dont swing with a weight shift, never have all my golf life, lol. which started in 96. Ive tried the shift weight back thing and I never liked it as much as staying centered, or more weight forward. Thats why when I came back into golf recently I was glad to hear of instructors like andy/mike and sean foley teaching weight forward, which is like a perfect fit for me.

The problem with poor instruction is that anyone can spot differences, but the more complex things like actual cause and effect are absent. Same here - Tiger's hips didn't rotate nearly as much, his right knee didn't straighten as much, his shoulder turn was flatter, he lifted his arms more, and so naturally the hip tilt is going to be flatter.

IMO I believe shifting a little weight with your hips as you rotate would help you acheive this more level looking rotation of the hips.

Aaron doesn't want more level looking hips. It has nothing to do with his current small issue. Nada. You're doing nothing but trying to get Aaron to look more like Tiger despite the fact that

Tiger is moving away from this look .
Also you will notice a slightly more elevated arm position as well. IMO, the SLIGHT weight shift and more level looking hip rotation would help you rotate your whole body a hair more. The elevated arm position would help the arms get down more in front of your body getting the club more from the inside.

Again, just trying to teach to a picture without understanding cause and effect or anything else. Additionally, you've managed to give contradictory advice. Hands more out will lead to a bigger over the top move, not one in which the club comes from the inside more.
