Is a V2 with a 9* loft and a blueboard regular flex shaft going to produce a pretty low ball flight. I have a 13.5* with a regular ping shaft (it was cheap in the trade in bin) and it goes a mile but obviously real sky-high! I was wondering if the 9* with the blueboard would be too much in the oposite direction and more for a lower-handicapp player.

Thanks for the help!

no
the blueboard is a mid to high launch shaft (especially a "made for" shaft)

your swing and shaft will have more to do with the actual ball flight than the head loft

a higher handicapper will beneift more from a higher lofted head, to keep the ball in play
get a proper shaft for your swing and it will do wonders for your game

a "proper" shaft doesnt have to cost you big bux either
my driver shaft is about $35, FW is $25 and HY is $25 - but they all do what they need too

Yeah, as Enis said, this will launch very high. I tried this combo (and I prefer a higher flight with a high kick) but I was moonballing. A medium flight shaft would be a red board (I know it's not a standard offering for Ping) or a Proforce V2 (not high launch), like I am gaming with my G10. It's a broken record mantra, but get fitted.

Ruckus, doesn't sound like you cared too much for the 9*/BB combo huh?

I wanted to like it, my swing had other ideas. At the time, I needed help getting the ball higher, but this combo launched way too high with a spin rate in excess of 3000. This caused balooning and, ultimately, loss of carry distance. But it really is dependent on YOUR swing. If you are swinging over 95 mph, then you need a stiffer shaft than an R flex anyway.

Thanks for the info...my swing speed is bewteen 90-95. I knew the shaft had a lot to do with how high the ball went; I just thought the 9* head woudl keep it down. Sounds like all it does in this case is lessen the forgiveness. The 13.5* I have goes pretty far but just too high. I sure like the way the ball soars though which is why I was trying to stick with the V2.

    • Day 39: did top golf for an hour with the family. It was fun but also not really like real golf at all. Also did some mirror work - working on the backswing stuff mostly.
    • Day 4, 1/2/26.  Played 18 today;  didn't get a chance to warm up (had I known the range was closed, I'd have hit balls at home first).  Played okay, 92 with three balls in the water.  It was raining for more than half the round and I didn't quite appreciate before today just how much I benefit from roll on both drives and approach shots.  I did not adapt well to this change until about hole 15, which is something I have to figure out.
    • Day 143 1-2 Arch wrist in downswing. Having a SLIGHT cup in the lead wrist at the top now. Only paused swings with some rehearsals before swinging at ball.  Used foam ball.
    • Day 459 - 2026-01-02 Had two guys on GEARS Hybrid, so I hopped on afterward (I'm going to do this a lot more often now). So… I've signed myself up for another month of backswing work in two ways: A little more extension of the trail elbow (got into the upper 90s) Less pelvis turn (low 50s).
    • Day 31 (2 Jan 26) - Usual Friday men’s group shootout - good day of shot making  as most shots were right on line to the target point.  Putter and green reads were solid with some great par saves and a really tricky birdie.
