I have +1/16 oversize grips and a couple of wraps of tape on my irons. I've always left my wedges stock, though, and would be interested to hear if that's what the rest of you ham-handers do? I feel like a thin little grip is easy to manipulate on delicate chips and pitches, but wonder if I'd be better off with a consistent grip size on longer shots.

Stretch.

Stretch. I found that using the same grip size improved my wedge play. I use midsize grips. For more delicate chips, I choke up a little thereby reducing the effective grip size. it really helped me after the switch.

For what it's worth, I've found the opposite to be true. I've got a decent set of ham-hands too, and play midsize plus 3 wraps on my irons.

My wedges are midsize plus 4 or 5 (can't remember). The larger grip helps slow down the wrists a bit and stabilize my hands on finesse shots. Tear a grip off, tape one up and try it. You might find the same.

I looked at wedges a lot this past summer. One thing I noticed on the specialty wedges (Vokey, CG14) was a lot of fairly thick grips. Seems like some golfers may be going counter to you - thicker grips on the wedges.

I picked up the 58.10 used with a very thick grip - went to a normal grip after a couple of rounds. I try to keep everything the same thickness on irons and wedges. (I'm a middle HDCP - not an 8 like you - so I try for consistency across the set)

You might follow delav 's idea and try it out both ways, see which is best.

All my clubs have 1/8" oversize grips. However, I did just buy 3 gripmaster roo grips for my L, S, and G. Wondering if improved feel could be had in doing so, but have not put the grips on yet.

For me, I like consistency across my set so I have the same grips on all of my clubs (except putter, of course).

Regripped with +1/16 Winn Lite Firm today. The OEM grips were leaving black crud on my hands, which I won't miss. Will have to see how they feel and play.
