Anyone using these shafts? I know they come stock in the Adams CB1 or CB2 irons. Just wanted some feedback since my experiment with DGSL S300's did not work out.

They are good. They come stock on the taylormade R9's if you want to try them out. Dicks sporting goods sells those irons

What was "good" about them? Have you played them in the R9's or other irons?

i used them in my R9 TP's..they were the KBS Tour Stiff

very smooth feeling shaft
i have read and felt that they work for a smooth tempo swing
they feel lighter and whippier than a DGS300, but really are not

i had pretty good flight and dispursion w them, so they flexed good i think
little higher flight than a DG, but not ballooning

i prefer the good old DGS300 tho...tried everything from PJX5.5, 6.0, flighted Rifles and KBS
DGS300's win hands down

lower traj., more boring flight, better spin, great dispursion etc....

just my opinion

wrx is talking about the kbs tour 90's though not the kbs tour. The R9 tp's come with the kbs tour while the regular R9 irons come with the kbs tour 90's, which is a really light shaft, like 90 some grams compared to the kbs tour at 120 grams.

I hit them into a net and they felt pretty good, they arent whippy feeling at all. I mean if you want a lighter shaft then you should try them out. From hitting them into a net they felt great.

my bad, didnt realize there was a diff

by whippy i meant they "felt" a litte more...hmmmm....flexible, although the shot pattern, flight anf dispersion didnt show it which to me, means they felt smooth like butta

btw. KBS is coming out with a new prototype shaft. Im pretty sure Tiger is using them in his new nike vr pro blades. He was using the VR pro blades at the cheveron and the shafts werent DGS300's anymore, they looked exactly like the KBS prototypes and thats the word as well. Im not totally sure but I think they are more of a lower flight compared to the kbs tour's, so you might like those enis

Main reason I was asking about the KBS Tour 90 was because I checked out some irons at GG earlier this week. Tried out the new Nike VR blades and Pro Combo, MP-53/63, and the Adams CB2. They had a DG S300 VR split cavity so I used that to gauge the differences to the other irons. I was hitting most of the irons around 175 but the CB2 with the KBS Tour 90 was averaging 190, topping out at 200. That's a big increase in distance to peak my interest.

Aren't you playing the normal KBS Tour shafts in your AP2's? I am referring to the

Wrx,

I hit the CB2's and they were butter, put up a good test against my irons and the same night I hit the Pro VR combos and they were NOT to my liking at all.

Anyways, the KBS Tour 90's felt very good and I really liked the ball flight I was getting, very consistent almost like the DG S300's I use. I would definitely use the KBS Tour 90 shafts as well as the CB2's.

I became aware of KBS shafts shortly after I swapped out my irons in 2009. I've given some thought to the KBS Tour 90s in R flex, mainly to pick up a little clubhead speed.

Also, I e-mailed KBS on a question about flex-point; an engineer responded and said KBS was "beyond flexpoint." The KBS website has some interesting details on their shafts.

Funny thing...I bought a Pro Gold hybrid off of a guy on another forum, he told me he threw in a lil' sumpin extra for me. Today I get the hybrid and low and behold what's in the box also....a set, 5-PW, of KBS Tour 5.5 pulls +1". I'm shocked and at a loss for words to say the least.

I would try to get a demo club or two to try on the range - OUTSIDE, and even on the course.

KBS TOUR 90 are VERY light. Be aware that as your club (over all weight) gets lighter - it gets more challenging to control. Taking distance over accuracy is not the best option in iron shafts.

Yes, I have been meaning to see if my local golf range has one in their demo bin. I've tried it on 3 separate occasions at GG and the launch monitor has been spewing out fairly consistently which got me interested. Tour 90's are 110 grams like the DGSL S300 which makes me very wary since those shafts already did not work out for me. The Adams CB2 weighting definitely feels better overall though. My swing speed was ranging from 85-90 mph with the 6 iron on my last visit so I'm on the borderline for the DG S300 shafts.

    • Day 126: another busy day, so just did some mirror work. Checking set up and backswing and working on a few downswing feels.
    • Day 310 - Working on my follow-through. Higher chest, belt towards the target. Small swings at first, building to a fuller swing (still not thrilled with my short backswing).
    • Day 201 (19 Nov 24) - Walked the back nine at Minnesott today, played the “white” tees with the persimmon woods and bladed irons.  It’s a challenge I really like as the clubs are shorter in overall distances.  It really forces me focus on the value of the approach game.     Somehow yesterday’s post did not load / so it’s above.  Today (Day 202) I did some backyard short yardage work - 7i dink  and rolls, 9i chips and 50deg pitches - working to get it in before the rain started around noon.
    • Day 51 - 2024-11-20 Played nine holes of Sanctuary Moon with a 6I while pausing in the backswing and otherwise just practicing. If you're into Star Wars, or don't actively hate it… this is worth checking out.
