Guess I will try this sandtrap golf blog. I've done a blog before but it was almost entirely poker and sports gambling focused. So this one will probably not include anything about when to break a 10-7 after the 2nd draw 3-handed or pointing out line movement against the order flow.

As I start this, the ultimate reader of my own blog will be me. As I start to think about golf and my goals, I know that I need to record my thoughts much better. When I played alot of poker, I never really improved until i started journaling my results and key hands. My biggest learning usually occurreed when i reflected on past hands and situation. For me, I think the same would apply to golf. (more to come on this later).

A little about me. I'm 32 and live in suburban Minneapolis and it is really, really cold right now. Have a wife and daughter (Bailey, 16 months) who are pretty cool about letting me playing a bunch of golf. Been chipping a lot in the rec room and Bailey loves chasing the ball.

About my golf game. As one of my friends at work tells me, I'm the worst 5 handicap in the universe. I am just as likely to shoot 74 as I am 94. Some days I will hit all of my drive 265 right down the middle with a nice draw. Others, I will hitting a nasty over the top slice 2 fairways over. The biggest reason is probably that I play more than I practice. Most of my rounds are usually at night by myself when courses are empty. More than anything else, its a bit cathartic, where i can release stress from a very stressful job. Part of it is that I can't stand the 5 hour rounds that are becoming way too common.

So anyway that's me. If you ever choose to read this, please leave a comment. If not, well if a blog fell in the forest and noone read it did it ever really happen.

eightblue, I look forward to reading your blog. You have a nice writing style, and sound pretty salt of the earth.

I used to play a ton of online, home game, and casino poker. Mostly hold'em, some omaha. I still enjoy the occasional home game, but would rather walk 18 holes now rather than spend all day at the casino.

Like you, I love playing golf in the evening, when the course is empty. Those are pretty peaceful times.

Again thanks, and I'll be reading.

Minneosta guy here as well. And yes, it has been extremely cold. Could you imagine the Vikings playing in an outdoor stadium in this?

Like you, I have been doing a fair share of chipping inside. Although I don't have a dog chasing the balls around.

My local town got a new golf simulator in last fall. I tried it out for the first time a couple of weeks ago.

Note to self - New or not, golf simulators will always be just a way to get inside and hit balls.

I was up to about a 5 HCP last summer. (Though I'll always call it a comfortable 8.)
