Well I purchased my membership about a month ago when there was still snow on the ground
I could barely get in the parking lot!! haha!

As it starts to warm up and the sun is now generating some spring heat, its drying up nice
The membership i purchased allows me to play all 3 city courses

Holiday Park-a 27 hole course, that plays around 6600 yds from the tips (this is where i will be playing most). The 9 hole executive is quite easy. I shot -2 last year and did it in like 1hour. But that was a good day :)
Wildwood-an 18 hole course - typically this placed is jam packed w juniors and hacks. It seriously can be dangerous to golf on, but i like it because it has really small greens. It plays to about 5900-6100 yds, depending where the blocks are.
Silverwood-a beautiful par 3 course. I love this place! I try to golf it at least once/mnth, its great to work on the short game

I have a tee time booked for next Saturday - I am trying to get out a hit a bucket or two before I go, but my new irons havent shown up yet (they are scheduled for next Tuesday).
I am starting this year w alot of new gear...im hoping it doesnt affect my game to much......
there are only a few ranges open right now too and all off mats....I HATE mats.........i think i will hit some putts and a few chips in lieu of the range...at least until we can hit from the turf

I have purchsed some of those alignment sticks (well, im on my way to buy some) "toursticks"
i usually use my irons, but the grips get all dirty and wet when i use them
if they dont have them, then ill pick up some of those driveway markers from Home Depot instead
i am hoping to hit the range a bit more and work on my alignment more this year
i have real trouble lining up on holes that make me turn left or work the ball left...I end up hitting a fade and making the hole longer

Tournaments

My goal is to golf in at least 4...minimum
mostly local stuff where i can make a name for myself
i plan to golf in the Golf Town Amateur tourney in July....that will be fun i think
my buddy wants to caddy for me...would it weird if he did???? I dont think there will be many dudes w "caddy's"..hmm...

I havent played in a tourny in a long time
I may have to freshen up on the rules a bit
I try to obide by them day to day, but just the little things that may have slipped my memory

well.....that's enough for now....
its going to be 12 degrees today and Sunny and i can smell the freshly cut grass already!!

People almost always caddy in our local amateur events.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
